Hey, but now that I think of it, it did seem like the title of that book was "Mondays at the Tire Store" hardcover edition.

I KNEW the forum was being used as a sounding board for writing a book!

I would have thought that they would want to take it to the mechanic first in case the vehicle would be totaled. Why go to the expense of adding tires when it may be sent to the crusher?
Remember the buyout program the government (or may have been the car industry) had where they bought back cars with a lack of proper emissions? I forget the specifics on what makes and years, but you were suppose to dump some sort of material (sugar probably) to the tank and run the engine till it quit making it inoperative.

The mechanic would not accept it on flat tires as they have no way then to move it in and out of shop to see about it. Can't push it easily on 3 flat tires. I can understand that and would probably be the same.
They said the same about sending it to auction, that the tires had to be holding air.
Usually around here, vehicles aren't crushed until a salvage yard buys them at auction, and sells all the usable parts off first.

Gloucester, England is the one who needs their water tested. Just look up their annual cheese rolling competition on youtube. You haven't ever seen more questionable brain damaged people in one place than there, and it brings them in from around the world. There are a lot of videos on it.

Different kind of crazy, but have you ever seen the Omak Stampede Suicide Race?
Riders race on horseback from a small holding area, approximately 100 feet to the edge of a 225 foot long 62% dirt slope which drops directly into a river. Depending on the water level, they run/swim the horses across, up a ramp, and to a finish line in the arena on the other side. The whole distance probably isn't more than 1/4 mile.
I've stood on that hill - it's so steep that it is difficult to stand on without digging out a flat spot first.

Hadn't even heard about it. I'm supposed to meet the insurance adjuster from Delta damage in about 30 minutes.

Insurance adjusters can be fun. I’m dealing with one now too. I have lots of equipment in the field. Neighbor burns some trash in 40 mph wind!!
He catches corn field on fire. Does $50,000+ to my equipment. Adjuster says got to depreciate my equipment?? Damages stuff 2 yr old. Can’t be bought used ? Always fun.
So due to no fault of mine I get to sustain the loss ? Probably not let that happen !!

Been camping for a week and just got back to this thread. A friend told me about finish carpenters in Louisiana.
Measure with a micrometer
Mark with chalk
Cut with a chain saw
Pound in place
Caulk to fit
Paint to match
Yup, good enough!

I think I'd be taking legal action against the party that caused the hit to my wallet. If insurance company won't make you whole, guess who should be making up the difference. Let their insurance company foot the bill for the difference in what your insurance pays and what it costs to get equipment repaired/replaced.

I suspect you could be made whole by the neighbor's insurance company. It will take some work. Whose corn field? Yours, too? More losses to be covered.
(Let's not stray to far from wmtire's thread topic.)

Getting the depreciated value of used equipment is legally considered “being made whole”. Victims may have a legitimate gripe about what the insurance company says that depreciated value is—especially if equipment of the same age is not available on the market to determine what the correct depreciated value is. Settling an irreconcilable dispute over the amount of the loss is one of the functions of courts.
However, unless an insurance policy is written that way (for an additional premium), no one gets replacement value.

I believe there were a couple jokes involved.
The nimrod that started the fire and possibly the insurance adjuster.

Aaah Mondays. Second customer had a flat repair on her Chevrolet Tahoe. When I made mention that someone or the dealer had swapped out her rims from a GMC Denali, probably a Yukon to hers....she told me I didn't know what I was talking about and those rims were on the vehicle since she got it.
Even after I pointed out the obvious, she still isn't believing me.
I had to get a pic to show. Can you spot a couple of things that should not be on a Chevrolet?

"GMC" on the hub and "Denali" on the edge?
Hey, it's a large SUV. Perhaps it's designed to off-road on Mt. McKinley and "GMC" actually stands for "Giant Mountain Crawler"!
Some things are not as obvious as they may appear, you know...

I see GMC in the center cap and Denali stamped/painted on the rim.
But as a dealer trade driver for a large GM dealership, I saw (have a pic somewhere) a GMC Sierra that came off the truck with a Silverado tailgate!
