Ok, here it is. Notice the split in the tire out from the plugs. I really would have been a crook if I took her money and tried to fix it. Lol

She and I assume her husband actually thought this tire was repairable. Think about that.Click image for larger version

Looks like the wear bars are saying the tire's junk too (or darn close as shown in second pic in post 6062)

Wish I could tell you, but this story just keeps giving. The woman left it here to begin with, so we threw it in the junk pile. She returned shortly, and said her husband wanted it, so we loaded it back in her Suburban.

He needs a tire for the front of his old motor home.

Or he'll just put a tube in it and try to get the last 100 (legal) miles remaining on the tread

This story starts last week. We were busy with customers when this woman pulled up wanting her tire repaired. We told her we would get to her when it was her turn but we had several ahead of her. She kept gnawing at my son while he was taking tires off of another car, that she didn't have time to wait. He does what he is supposed to do in these situations, and tell me. I'm the one in charge of customer relations......as well as sales, service, accounts payable, inventory, weedeating, and bathroom cleaning if needed.

I told her again she would have to wait her turn and we had other customers in front of her. She gnawed on my son several more times, since he was closest to the bay doors and I'm inside the shop mounting tires. He got me again. I'm getting fed up with her attitude. and the fact we keep having to extend the times other customers are waiting, just to deal with her. I tell her this time in a rather forceful tone, that she should have believed her own eyes when she pulled up and saw all these other vehicles and people here would be ahead of her. I then told her she needed to wait in her vehicle and we would let her know when it was her turn, and this would be the last time I would stop dealing with my other customers to talk to her. I also suggested some of my competitors down the street may not be as busy as me, and they could get her taken care of quickly/

I was really hoping she would leave, and tried my best to force the issue. Well, I got my wish and she did leave.

So this story doesn't get humorous in the least till this morning. My son and I were standing outside, getting a tire out of a customers trunk. This vehicle drove by on the road, honking their horn. When I turned to look, the driver was flipping me the bird. I grinningly looked at my son, and commented that they must have been looking for him. He laughed and reminded me that it was that woman from last week.

So the laughs are at my expense with this tale.

This is why eyewitness accounts aren't that reliable. Two people can look at the exact same thing and their minds process it two different ways. Had a customer call on the phone asking about a 225/45R18 used tire. Told him we had one. He came up here and said he called about the tire that was in the bed of his truck, a 225/45R18. I told my son to get it out of the back of the customers truck.

When the tire/wheel was bought to me it was obviously way bigger than the tire he told me. I glanced at it, and it was a 255/45R18. I went to tell the customer it was not the same size as he called about, and ask if he was actually needing a 225 or 255. When I told him the tire he had was a 255, he told me I was wrong and pulled out a piece of paper he had written the size down on. He had 225/45R18 on the paper. I told him he kicked a number and it was actually a 255. He told me he knows what he read and it was a 225.

I lead him out to the shop and show him the tire, still mounted on his rim, and showed him where it was 255/45R18. He looks right at the numbers on the sidewall, and then at his paper...and tells me "See, just like I said, 225/45R18".

I'm thinking to myself "how can you not read it right, as you are looking right it?".....but bit my tongue. I slowly point out the 2-5-5 with my fingers and get him to say it out loud. I then point to the 2-2-5 on his paper and get him to say it out loud. He just stares at me, and no light bulb is coming on, as you can tell he is still thinking that it reads 225..... even as he looks at and says the numbers.

I luckily did have a 255/45R18 tire and showed it to him compared to what he was asking for in a 225/45R18 where he could see the differences in the tires physically and how it matched what he already had on the rim. He said to just put it on there, and I still don't think he ever figured out he was wrong. I just hope I never have to call him for a witness in anything.
