This is to be a fun thread…… why is it that………… A short statement, then the story.

Why is it that the most rusted, hardest to break bolts are always in the most awkward spot?

I was changing the shocks on the RV. The rear lower bolts broke free…. They were also easy to get to... The upper bolts were a real pain to break free. Even when I got the 2 foot cheater bar set up for a clean pull, they would not budge. I had to get the red torch out (in my case, no oxy at my daughters house, but I did have a decent MAPP gas torch….. the rubber melted and burnt……, it drips….. and sticks to your nose….. (I look like Rudolf) It still took 45 minutes between a 2 foot breaker bar and ½ impact to break them free. (I did replace the bolts).

The front shocks….. Same again. lower bolts easy to get to, broke free with a normal 1.2 inch ratchet. Upper bolt (which was a real pain to get anything on the back side) took the 2 foot breaker bar. I was NOT going to use the torch around the fuel and brake lines, not to mention all of the electric wires.

Sorry for your troubles. It's good to know I'm not the only one who has these troubles.

You know how to find the exact center of your RV,TV or car?

Drop a socket.

Murphy was an optimist. Iwannacamp, a socket is also good for telling you by how much you arms are too short or too thick.

And +1 on the PB Blaster. I didn't know about the 2-day lead though.

Wilson (you the guy in Wilson's War?)....... I don't think they got it.

This is an "add-on" thread. YOU are supposed to put WHY IS IT THAT_________ and then add YOUR fitting comment.

Like this:

Why is it that on every two lane road when you are behind a slow driver, tractor, etc., the straightaways are full of oncoming traffic and the curvy hills have none??

Next?

X2 on PB Blaster - best penetrating oil there is - even if it doesn't have a LED like Liquid Wrench.

Ah ha! I'm slow, but I do get there - eventually.

Why is it, anytime I take apart and reassemble some complicated gizmo, to "fix it", I have parts left over when I'm done???? (Sometimes it even works!)

Love the PB Blaster. Neighbor called yesterday and asked if I could help him. He needed a bunch of tools. He Had broken a bolt on the bracket that holds front rotor. After wiggling in there and drilling out the bolt (extractor broke off trying that way) and retapping threads, he was on his way. Nothing is as easy as it should be. Glad it worked out for ya.
