Where is Old Man Winter

This was the outside temp on my truck thermometer at 3:00 yesterday on the drive home. Even in North Louisiana this is extreme for this time of the year. I'm ready for some fall camping and this ain't it.

I'm thinking maybe my ex went home for a family visit, and left the door to Hades open.

I hear ya! Football is on tv, so I shouldn't get drenched everytime I walk outside, and I should just about be done cutting grass. Somebody forgot to tell Summer that he's over.

Careful what you wish for. Winter could make an appearance in a way you don't want. Up here in Nebr. we're still feeling the affects of all the snow and sudden spring thaw we had.

DW opened the windows here in Dayton Ohio.

Temp the other night was in the high 40’s.

Quite a change from Houston two weeks ago.

Having a heat wave today. Should hit 82!

Trust me, winter will get here soon enough.

Night before last we got hit with a huge Lightning Storm (449 lightning strikes in our county alone and over 2,000 in he Puget Sound area alone).

This could well be a sign of what we'll be faced with later on this winter.

Extreme weather is starting to be a regular happening of late but just remember, the AVERAGE temp really doesn't change much. This means that if you're having extremely hot weather now, be prepared to bring in your Brass Monkeys soon 'cause all that heat will have to be offset by cold to keep the average "normal".

I do, I do!

It's not even officially fall yet and I'm already counting the days until the first day of summer next year. I remember all too well the snow we got here in April.

It's still in the mid 80's here but it's supposed to rain all week long.

I read a report not long ago that said we are merely emerging from the last Ice Age. Seems like that happens every eon or so.

I guess the question is which is more reliable. Weather trends as recorded over the last 100 years or so, or weather as recorded in Glaciers, etc, representing a weather history over thousands of years.

We were on the coast of Oregon for 7 weeks. Never got up to 80 or down to 50. My kind of weather. Now in White Salmon, WA and we may see 80 in a few days. Still in the mid 50’s at night.

We went to northwest arkansas for labor day weekend. Even though it was hot, we had some cool places to splash around. Click image for larger version

Up here, old man winter, or as we refer to it "The Hawk" will be here soon enough. After our amazingly hot summer, the high and low daily temps are dropping about 5 degrees weekly. In addition we are losing daylight at the rate of 6-7 minutes daily. We don't ponder where The Hawk is, we just except it when it arrives.

We left Florida where it was stupidly hot.

And each place we've gone (Huntsville, Hot Springs, and now Oklahoma City) has been stupidly hot. Amarillo next week and guess what? Stupidly hot.

I saw pictures from 2 years ago when we were at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and I had a screen capture that it was 38. I might not be ready for that, but dammit- I'm ready for the heat to break!

I hate heat and like cool/cold weather. When it's hot you can only take off so many clothes to cool off and if you take off too many someone calls the cops.

When it's cold you just add another layer.

My wife always says this as well. I'd much rather have a pair of shorts, a tank top and sweat a little bit than have to go outside looking like this:

If I never experienced temps below 50 for the rest of my life I'd be perfectly happy.

I found out that minus 40 will literally take your breath away; had to go back and stand halfway inside/outside to get a breath. 9 trips to the coast in 2 years, aah rv life.

Two weeks ago today we were in NE Washington State and woke up to 41* (clear skies with a cold front in place). Currently sitting in the trailer in SW Washington with a temp on 60 and on and off heavy rain. I’ll take 41 and clear anytime over this Western Washington rain. I do sympathize with the folks in the south with the temps and humidity experienced.
