That's the weird thing about Andersen products- they break with some regularity but at least they have good customer service to replace the things that break.
Any idea if there is a trend as to why or when they’ve broken?

I've only noticed it when people have heavier rigs. I used to think the cutoff was about 12,000 pounds based on my off-the-cuff & totally non-scientific research. But the person I quoted, their rig is 12k max. So unless they were maxed out, they were less than that.

Hmmm. We’re a little over 11,000# so we’ll see how they work out for us. We never have a paved site, always gravel, even at the KOAs around here. I wonder if that makes any difference in the failure rate.

Mine is only 10k loaded. What I've noticed is that the diameter of my wheel is larger the the arc of the leveler. On soft gravel it seems to give a bit. Both times mine broke it was at a campground that has asphalt. Not sure if that's the reason but it's seems logical.

We seem to be discussing different Andersen products. The product inquired about by the OP looks like a inverted five gallon bucket.

I don’t think so. You’re talking about their “trailer jack blocks” but in post #2 john5646 posted a picture of his levelers and in post #5 and #6 the OP seemed to acknowledge that’s what he’s looking at.

Maybe, but I went back to the first post and the OP asked about “leveling blocks” which I take to mean are the under the tire pieces vs the buckets under the landing gear/stabilizers.

I think you may be correct. My mistake. Thanks.

Anderson Blocks

We use them and the work great. We just use a level on the bumper and it is easy. Easy to set up and take down. Wash off easy in muddy conditions.

The Beach Lane levelers are similar to the Andersons but are made from a stronger material and are much sturdier. I use the Beach Lanes and never heard of anyone breaking them.

I use the Beech Lanes, and they don't void the warranty if you need to shorten one to get between the tandems.

Besides, I have an ethical issue with buying anything Anderson since he got caught carving his initials in an arch at Moab.

The Andersons looked like a good idea, so we ordered a pair. Unfortunately, the wheels on our 21DS are too close together for one to fit between the tires.

I use them and haven't seen anything else I think I would like better but I have a solution that eliminated a couple problems I saw.

The first issue is using them on gravel or worse which didn't seem good for them. I say worse because I am primarily a back country boondocker. That also often gets me into ground that needs some extra lift. And I was also sometimes having a weird thing happen on hard surfaces where I would roll up and hit the brake to hold that position and the tires would spit out the wedge.

To solve all these problems I got a mud flap at NAPA and cut it to fit a 24" 2x6 with 45 degree miters on the ends. I then glued the mud flap piece to the 2x6 with contact cement. So unless I need very little lift I put the Anderson on the 2x6 and it's easy on the wedge, gives a little extra height, and prevents the wedge from spitting out.

Has anybody had that problem with the wedge getting spit out?

Okay

The concept is great and they do work. My trailer may have been too heavy though because i broke two of them this past summer. They were replaced but you have to pay for shipping. My trailer weighs about 7,500 pounds loaded.

https://andersenhitches.com/Products...er-ez-bag.aspx I just bought the kit for both leveling and the jacks. I also have the bucket for the tongue jack.

Woops

Only problem I've had / seen with them is if you 'over run' them and one flips up between your tires on the typical dual axle RV, securely wedging itself in between. Firmly. Stuck. Something like this pic:

Camco Levelers

I purchased the Camco curved levelers and they've worked great for us. Our space between the wheels is tight and the Anderson's were too big.

I like the curved levelers better than the blocks I previously used. Blocks were OK when going 1 or 2 high, but I couldn't build a pyramid to get to 3 high (due to the spacing between the wheels). I wasn't comfortable driving from ground level up to 3 blocks.

I also like the way the leveler/chock combination works.

I have the leveling blocks, way easier than trying to build legos. I use my lynx now for the jacks

I have a pair and like them. I don't love them. If your site is way off level, they're not enough. Sometimes I have to resort to a big stack of Lynx Levelers (or your favorite brand).

If you're close to the working limit of lift, it's easy to go too far and drive off the other end. With some double-axle trailers the wheels are close enough that you have to trim some off the end of one of them, so it will fit between the tires. It also makes it hard to remove that one because it ends up jammed between the wheel if you try to back off it.

Andersons ...cutting to fit

I had similar issue, contacted them and was advised that can be cut to fit. Forget specific maximum they said but was able to cut sufficient amount to fit between the wheels.

I think as long as you dont cut into the section with holes in it, you should be fine
