Brand new $99 generator!

What about this generator? Harbor Freight sent me a flyer in the mail and this generator is on sale for $99. I know it would not run my ac but maybe my coffee maker and microwave? How long would it take it to recharge the batteries in the morning? Would it be worth carrying around? How about some opinions. This price seems hard to pass up.

Be prepared to be attacked by Zombies as this generator will wake the dead with its noise level. For the sake of your fellow campers, don't buy it. Note that it is a 2-stroke. I don't believe that 800 Watts would run either your coffee maker or your microwave. Our 2,000 Watt Honda grunts with the microwave. Seriously, this would be like running a chainsaw in the campground.

800 watts is 6.5 amps or so. Throw in a few losses for connections, cord length, adapters, and maybe 6 amps to the camper, so 720 watts available. Will it run your 900 watt microwave? NO. Will it run your 1200 watt coffee maker? No. Will it be loud, probably, since it is a two stroke requiring gas/oil mix. One thing, it will be light. I would pass, but that is up to you. Oh, it won't run your wife's 1200 watt hair dryer either.

I noticed there were no decibel ratings for it which concerned me. One review said it made about the same noise as a weed eater at idle. If that is so, I suppose it would be ok.

As others have said, being two stroke it will be loud and the wattage will not be enough to accomplish much. Even for $100, I would pass on it. No db rating usally means one thing. It's not quiet.
