Anyway, if the pin box is going to be replaced, I really want some Air ride technology, so I'm going to hold out for the Goosebox, even if I have to pay for part of it.
Have you ever try to hook up a ball hitch by your self? I have. I would rather hook up to a fifth wheel hitch. On a goose neck you have to get the coupler right over the ball, then lower it on to the ball when you can't see the ball. ( you can not move the trailer) it is hard to do need two people to guild you in. On the other hand with a fifth wheel you just need to get close and it will slide in.
I do have a solution to the heavy hitchs, I am trying to find a company to manufacture and distribute. it takes care of lifting the heavy hitchs.

I use one of these magnetic base telescopic rods on top of the ball when I haul a gooseneck. When the trailer gooseneck knocks the magnet off, it's close enough to drop the trailer on the ball.
No matter what methods are used to remove the two-piece Companion hitch, overhead hoist, forklift, extra person, etc. it still requires time, tools, at least two trips in and out of the truck, and a safe place to store the Companion and its base. With the Goosebox, I'm gaining air-ride technology as well as a higher rated pin box.

Ball hitchs in most states you have to have safety chains. With the Goosebox do you have to have them?

I don't have the hitch yet, but when I do, I'll have safety chains!
On a positive note, I got a call from Calvin Folk at FR today, and he said they will put a new pin box on my 39r12, and the GVWR will stay as advertised. I asked for the Reese Goosebox, and he's checking on that. I'll have to take it to the factory, put fortunately it's not far!

I can not find a rating on my pin box now, I may have covered it with my invention, the Fifth Wheel Hitch Hoist. But I am sure it is rated right since the trailer is only rated at 18,000 lb.

Thanks. Yeah I asked the dealer about getting the air ride pin from lippert if I paid the posted price difference. He said that he'd ask Calvin about it and let me know. If Calvin says no then at least the standard pin box will be replaced so I won't lose my CCC. As well as safety won't be compromised.

Hey guys! I just heard something very strange when I spoke with Cal at Forest River today. He told me that the problem was that they programmed their labeling machine wrong, so it sent out the mislabels. If that were true, would the brochures show the same GVWR as the labels? Just wondering......And yes, they will be replacing our pin box.

FR replaced my old pin with a high end 21K Trail Air. It has the strut and airbag combo.

Looks like FR is gonna put the Goosebox on for me, when they get it in. Cal said my weight stickers would not change.
Papabear, what model/ part number trail air did you get? Any idea what the cost on one of those is?

That's what I had asked for, the trail air pin box. We shall see what they say. I haven't heard from the dealer since I spoke to them Friday. I plan to call for an update tomorrow.

What is the model number of the Trail Air pin box? I will be calling the dealer tomorrow and it would be great to have that info. Riznfall, I would contact Forest River directly. I was called back the same day. The phone number is on the back page of your recall notice.

I have talked to FR. Spoke to Calvin. I didn't ask for the trail air while on the phone with him. When I went to my dealer is when I asked about it. Maybe a call or another email to Calvin might help to persuade them a bit. Can't hurt.

mis labled , mis quoted , I say mis guided .
FR's fallback is always we mis printed the labels or mis printed the brochures . got the same response when it was stated as a 20,000 btu furnace as opposed to the actual 19,000 that came with the unit . this type of excuse needs to stop as it would never hold up in a court of law along with the we can change the specs when ever we want BS . yes they can change the specs when they want but not show one set of specs and then after a sale show another

As quickly as he backed up and said OK to my demand that I get what I paid for, I think they are seriously trying to avoid a class action suit. I was talking to an attorney friend and he's sure of it.

I used to be in insurance, and if a claim arose from an accident and we were overweight, the insurance company would NOT have to pay out. If the pin box failed due to too much stress from it being underweight, Forest River's liability would be huge!

They would rather give us fancier pin boxes than we had than deal with the blowback I'm sure.

I have a recall on my unit from forest river with the same stated issue of the GVW stickers are mis
Matched as yours is. I also have a secondary problem I believe to be related to this same issue. At the front left corner of my unit the siding is moving up and back down about a half an inch I have had it to my dealer and they were told by forest river how to reinforce it to stop the movement I picked it up and it still has the same problem this is a 38L12 touring Vengeance it is still under factory warranty I have only pulled this unit 4 times
Has any one else had problems with the front area moving on theirs ??

I had this issue with my Ultra-Lite and it was solved completely by the Flagstaff techs at the Goshen Rally. They removed 4 screws on each side and replaced them with MUCH longer screws (4 or 6 inches!) at an angle that paralleled the cap aluminum framing.

Some 3 years later, no more movement and the bottom seam seals are holding.
