These are the things I would check first. Do I have enough fuel in the tank. Is my gen. Oil level above the add mark. Is it really cold and I need to start it several times to warm it up some. Did it run OK the last time and how long ago. Did the gas go bad? Do I have things turned on that are placing a load on gen. when trying to start.
I'm sure others will have more ideas. I was just thinking of simple things to check.

My Onan generator's fuel pump died after 17 hours on it. We were dry camping in Dover at a NASCAR race. It was 90 degrees outside! I guess we were lucky it died with just 1 day left. Onan was pretty good about it, I called on a Monday, brought the RV to their shop, and they had it fixed the next day. No charge, under warranty.
Best way to check the fuel pump is to take off the gas line that runs to the carb, try to start it, if no gas, than it is probably the pump. That's how i diagnosed mine at home before driving to the dealer.
