Satellite Wiring

My 2011 XLR 30 X 12 only has a cable hookup on the outside. If I purchase a portable satellite dish can I use the outside cable hook up to connect the satellite dish if I set the inside TVs to "Cable" instead of "Satellite?"

I just went through this with my HFS5. The answer is "probably not." When you are hooked up to the "cable inlet," any incoming signal goes through the power booster (whether it's turned on or not,) and that caused my digital satellite signal to get lost. I had to have my dealer run a separate "satellite inlet" from the same place outside to right behind my TV. YMMV, but I'm guessing you'll have the same issue with yours.

X2 . If you use the cable connection on the outside, it will not work for satellite. The antenna booster changes / blocks the signal required.

There is information on how to modify the antenna booster wall plate, bypassing the antenna booster. If you do a search on FRF I think you will find it.

Another reason a wiring schematic should be provided for every platform produced by the RD industry.

You can probably disconnect the coax going into the switching device and bypass it with a barrel connector and a length of coax going to your satellite receiver.

If you change the splitter out w a power passing 2gighz splitter it will pass satellite signal thru cable input.

I had the same problem on my Sabre TT and had to bypass the cable booster. It was really simple. I took the cover plate off the cable outlets behind the TV in the LR and disconnected the incoming cable from the booster and connected it directly to the wall outlet. It is equally simple to reconnect if you need the cable hook-up.
