Camping World Taking Over?

Couple weeks ago Hubby and I went to a RV Dealer in Ashland VA. Soon as we entered the parking lot it seemed different. Walked in to go to the store section. totally different. I said to Hubby that it looks like Camping World. Paid for our item, half of the people wore shirts from the RV Dealer other half (which seemed to be in charge)wore a different shirt but no logo.

Today in the mail received a $10.00 Camping World coupon to be only used at the Ashland VA and the Thornburg VA sites. I cannot believe the one Dealer sold to CW, don't know nothing about the other. Will CW go after the Mom and Pops Dealerships next. You know the small ones. Hope things don't go bad, closes RV store near us.

CW just announced a new opening of an RV dealership in Sherman, TX. RV-MAXX owned the location 7-8 years.

Markus Lemonis took Camping World public in the fall of last year. The sale of the stock provided a huge amount of cash. I believe he plans to make Camping World the Walmart of the RV sales industry. This is just my opinion of course.

In the St. Louis area Camping World wanted to buy out Bill Thomas Campers located just off Interstate 70 but the deal didn’t go through so Camping World built a new dealership just off Interstate 70 and just one mile away.

Wouldn't it be nice if they had the same "No Questions Asked" return policy???

Well I for one do not like it. Not being CW but they are/planning to be the next Wally World. When Wally took over a lot of stores went out. Variety went out the door for shopping. I miss Roses, Ames, Woolworths and Jamesway. Hurt Mom and Pop stores too. Just my 2 cents.

As for the two Dealerships I mentioned, they are right off I-95. One is next to Bass Pro Shop and construction for an Outlet of stores.[/QUOTE]

For a list of who CW has acquired as part of their "side by side" dealership plans see the link in my post #4 Here. At least with them being publicly traded now they have to disclose those acquisitions...

My comment is why did Camping World open a new business in Monticello Minnesota when there has been one in business for years, about 15 miles away. Yet the next closest to the west is hundreds of miles. Stupid locating.

The same can be said for campgrounds. That being independent campgrounds are being bought up by corporations such as Encore, Thousand Trails and others

That must be McGeorge RV. Camping World bought it in February.

lol made me laugh out loud. I think that policy has bitten them many times. Dope heads make a living stealing and returning at these types of stores.

Camping World bought out both Tom Johnson dealerships in Concord and Marion, NC. Glad I bought my last camper in 2012.

Well that explains a lot! The Gander Mountain here in west central IN is closing.
We have Midwest RV south of town that is a great place, very honest and good techs. I suppose they are next.

Gander Mountain in Parker CO just opened and is closing. Guess that's why. Oddly the CW store in Wheatridge is now a Four Seasons RV that used to be Steve Casey's RV. They call it Steve Casey's Four Season RV, but they said Steve Casey no longer has an interest in the place. CW moved up the road to a smaller location. Four Season's store looks almost the same as CW's except they have smaller trailers on the show room. Guess they're all going to become big corporate guys.
