Rich, I'm sure that explanation sounded better than "The contractor we hired to do this ran the sewer extensions as close to the adjoining entry roads as he could, because he's lazy and didn't want to go halfway between each road"................

Just my guess.

Quite contrary. I can't imagine a modern campground not being a full pull through. That makes it practical for the utilities to be at the middle of the driver's side of the trailer, right where I prefer my RV docking station to be. Should be able to hook up with 10 foot lines, etc. Yeah, I know, dream on, but I've been in some and they are nice.

When I was in SD camping two weeks ago we had sewer in the back about 30ft from where the electric and water were. It made the trailers line up on the long sites at the very back and I could not even put my awning out without hitting the guy next to me. You had space in front but my door is on the side close to the back and the end of my steps was his sewage hook up...

I didnt hook up and made DW take short showers while I used the camp showers. I dumped at the end of our trip before leaving. Wish they guy next to me had done the same because I was tripping on his sewer hose.

It still beat the Yellowstone fishing bridge sewer connection. That one was under my trailer near the axle about 14" off the ground. Again did not bother to use it until I had to dump grey water.

Yep, that's about as much standardization your gonna find in the RV world.
(and the door thing is getting questionable. I have seen units with a second door on the street side.)

Wait...what side is the door supposed to be on???

Our Flagstaff 25LB has sort of a mini-door in the rear bunks that opens to the port side. The rear bunk folds up so we use it to put our bikes into.

Just goes to show- different strokes for different folks, I almost always prefer a back-in site to a pull-thru one.

Oh, I can also always back up a trailer on my first try too. I just can't guarantee it's where it needs to be.

Don't say "crack" when talking about backing

Sometimes I can make it on the 1st try ~~ if the sites on both sides are empty and I get to choose the one I'm on.

Rear Dump Rumor

Heard this rumor about 5 years ago. The GM at our favorite park was convinced this was going to happen so he began a capital project to relocate the dump stations to the rear of each of the 400 sites in the park. He got about a quarter of the way through the project before the board put an end to it. I had to purchase an extra hose the one time I got put in to one of those sites.

One campground that we go to has two sewer dumps at most sites one approx. mid trailer the other at the rear.

Our older campers had the outlet at the rear. One black/grey tank, so I guess that is one black tank. No separate grey tank.

I heard the manufacturers are going to place the axles in the center of the rv length on a turn-table, put brake/tail lights on both ends and make the hitch swap-able to either end. So if you can't back up or get in a position where you can't turn around you just switch ends. Can you imagine a 5th wheel with an attic(?) on each end.

I also can back a trailer up just as easy as pull it forward. I generally chose a back in spot because I feel guilty taking a pull-thru from someone who cant back up.

I just wish my camping spot's sewer fitting was downhill and not uphill of my camper.
