Yes I have one and second outing coming up this weekend and the fridge is dead.... No lights no nuthing. Already posted in here on possible solutions but not happy. Never really wanted this "new" style fridge but we really liked the camper. If it turns out the fridge is dead I'm hoping it isn't all that complicated to stick in a 2,3 way.

Did your trailer come stock from the factory with one?

Yes it did. It worked jus fine on our 1st trip and after parking it in my driveway I actually drained my battery with just the light on in the fridge.

Just an update to this thread from Mitzerusa's other thread - his fridge is an EverChill and not Furrion.

Here's hoping the Furrion is more reliable than the EverChill.

Over what period of time did the battery drain? There are other phantom drains in the trailer like the Control Panels, Water Heater controls, Furnace, Radio, etc. Usually even with all systems 'turned off', there is around 0.5-1amp of drain on the battery.

Doesn't take long (less than 2-3 days) for a battery to be depleted.

If your unit was built to operate a propane reefer , mostly a duct required to vent the heat thru the roof , it will be easy.

Anyone contemplating boon docking needs to specify a propane fridge.

Electric is a total PIA if there is no 24/7 source.

We actually Boondock at least 10-12 days per year, not to mention overnights at Cracker Barrels, etc. Given I have to run an inverter to power our fridge when driving, after 4 hours on a reasonably warm summer day, the house batteries are usually down to 65% capacity (200AH GC - depleted about 60ah). Not what I expected from a fridge.

I saw a video on Youtube of a place in Indiana that will replace the Absorption guts of your fridge with a 12V or 120V compressor system (I believe it's around $1400).. The 12V version draws 5 Amps.
I've never heard of anyone having so much trouble with a 3 way refer. that's in good working order. Is the venting proper? Have you tried adding a fan to help reject the heat? They make a simple DIY fan setup that uses computer fans and a thermostat, really helped on my ancient truck camper I had back in the day

If you're serious about Boondocking, you'll have at least 400W of solar and at least 200AH of Lithium batteries. A 12V fridge will be handled just fine with that setup and you don't have to worry about consuming propane. A fridge on propane can drain a 30lb tank, by itself, in about 2 weeks.

The other benefit, a compressor based fridge doesn't have the issue of having to maintain level in order to operate.

Our current trailer is not setup for that currently and given that we might change to a 5th wheel in a few years, we will hope for a 12V fridge that replaces the 12Cu Ft. Gas/Electric in most of those.

Also needs a water heater size knockout on the side for the back of the fridge for access, venting and drainage.

2 weeks - really? Yes, I don't have a 10cu ft fridge running on propane. But my 3.5 cu ft model sure doesn't use any propane to speak of. A single 20lb propane tank lasts me over a year (typically 30 days/year) on combined heater and fridge use. And I run the fridge on propane while towing. If I don't use the heater, I can get 2 years out of a 20lb propane bottle running the fridge.

just my experiences

If my absorption fridge ever kicked the bucket, I would definitely look into this fridge. I have 700W of solar and 200AH of lithium batteries so I would have no problem with this.

Directly from Dometic's Specsheet for 6cu Ft. Fridge
Power consumption on gas 1501.28 BTU/h
Based on that consumption, the fridge consumes 36000 BTU/Day.
Each pound of propane contains 20000 BTU so a 20lb tank contains 400000 BTU which means a 6cu ft fridge on propane would consume a 20lb tank in 11 days.

Just like your fridge at home, it doesn't run full tilt 24/7.

Just like the earlier discussion in this thread that a 12VDC fridge doesn't run 24/7.

It will if it's the summer and temps are over 75-80... At night, correct, it won't run constantly but once the temperature rises, it will be running constantly.

I know that from when I was running the fridge on the inverter. When the outside temperature was over 80 deg, it never shut off.

The the electric side only puts out about 2/3 of the heat that the gas side does, so the electric side doesn't cool as efficiently at the gas.

Not sure about your propane usage numbers. My Arctic fix would set in driveway with refreg running on propane with 300w solar all summer. We would use it every weekend. I would get almost 2 months per 30 gallon tank.

Our trailer came with a 11 cu ft LG residential. Nice fridge. When running on the inverter, it draws 7 amps. 84 amp hrs a day if you assume 50% duty cycle. With 130W solar (6.7 amps), 90 minutes of generator in the morning and also in the evening, I'm thinking we can make it for a weekend of boondocking with two 12V batteries in parallel. We'll see . . . . We mostly boondock in the mountains where it is often 40 degrees at night, so hoping we'll be OK. Don't run the furnace except morning warm-up with the generator running.

We figure the solar can keep the batteries topped off during the day and that night usage will be minimal.
