GY Recall

NHTSA Recall ID Number : 22T009
Synopsis : Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (Goodyear) is recalling certain G159 tires, size 275/70R22.5 with DOT date codes 046 through 0403. The tread may separate from the tire. Tread separation can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the tires installed on recreational vehicles, free of charge, and provide a $60 voucher for the cost of professionally weighing a recreational vehicle. Goodyear will offer a $500 refund for tires not installed on a vehicle. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Goodyear customer service at 1-800-592-3267.

We would hope that not many (or any) members would still be using a tire from 1996-2003 (the recalled tires manufacturing dates) on their motorhomes.

This recalled tire (which we have discussed before) stems from some stuff that was brought out at a liability trial, explained in this consumer reports article

Typical legal crap. Let do a recall to show how much we care, on a tire that was last made 19 years ago. May as well do a recall on T-rex originally sold as pets.

What about spare tires?

I know of at least one 2004 model year vehicle that has the original spare, never on the ground.

I probably should not admit this but I still have at least two tires on rims that came on our 1988 Terry. No they are not on a trailer at the moment .
