How much did you spend on camping in 2007?

How much did you spend on camping in 2007?

I got to crunching some quick figures today to see our costs for the year. I was quite surprised at the result!

I just tallied up (what I could remember) and it weighs in at.....drum roll please....(Radio...close your eyes buddy!)

Our expenditures on Camping Season 2007, staying 36 nights (not counting food/beverages expenses...

$13,000

Ok...$3000 of it was Jet Ski payments and gas. (I forgot to add the insurance for it too!)

So $10,000 + was 'totally camping related.' (and I know I left some out) WOW! That's about $278 per night at 10K!

In all fairness, much was the cost of getting settled in a new seasonal space. You just need more/new stuff. Decks, Tv's, yard stuff...

2008 should be much cheaper. (if Dave Ramsey gets to me anyway...)

We didn't come close to that amount. But to tell you the truth I don't want to know what we spent. The amount of money we spent on gasoline alone for our southwest loop made me sick.

21323.00 for 15 nights, new (used) fiver, fuel, and campground fees, no food or other expenses added in. 1421.53 per night. But boating is just as bad, and we should get the nightly rate down just a bit next year. At least I'm hoping '71 wife doesn't decide to upgrade the trailer again.

I have a simple answer.

NOT ENOUGH this year. Our trailer is paid for (I have had notes before and would do it again to get started. Paid for puts a bigger smile on the face) and I only have to pay tags 130.00 and insurance 120.00. Our trips are usually to state parks and when mom goes we use the golden passport. She went most time with us this year. Food comes from the kitchen that we would use anyway at home. In short the most of our expense for the few times we were able to go out was on fuel..

I estimate my trip cost per day to be less than 100.00 per day this year. We stayed close to home due to the family health issues this year.

Cant get a hotel with the view and closeness we have had with the family as bil and sil were there in there unit beside us every time. "family together"

Next year we are planning some trips that are further away and our cost wil go back up. But I have learned this year that if times get tough you have ALOT of fun on a light wallet.
Mike

And yes all luxury/hobby expenses were paid in cash in 2007!

I haven't gotten to go near enough. Broke leg killed one vacation and work killed the other two I was planning. Trailer is paid for and always pay for trips with cash in hand.

Mike,

Maybe we can get to Arkansass sometime after the 1st of the year? The rest of this one is pretty much jacked up with work.
