Huge fire in Abbotsford RV dealership in BC..

Going to be some upset folks as a result of this, that's for certain.

Hundreds of RVs and vehicles were in flames on Wednesday morning as a huge fire erupted at an Abbotsford RV dealership amid flooding. The fire took over a lot near Sumas Mountain Road and North Parallel Road.

Several rows of recreational vehicles parked very close to each other have been caught in the flames.

Extinguishing the fire was a challenge for authorities as the access roads leading to the RV facility were flooded due to the recent rainstorms that ravaged the region. The flames were also under high-voltage power lines, raising the risk.

About 40 crew members from the local fire departments fought to control the blaze.

The cause of the fire and whether there were casualties were unknown. Authorities have advised nearby residents to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed as smoke from the burning facility could be harmful.

The mishap has the potential to impact next year’s RV European business as it’s part of their rental fleet. According to Joss Penny, executive director of the British Columbia Lodging & Campgrounds Association (BCLCA), the majority of the European inventory pulls from the Abbotsford facility.

The flames that enveloped the facility happened in the Sumas Prairie, a region that has been affected by recent flooding. British Columbia’s City of Abbotsford has ordered an evacuation, asking residents in the prairie to vacate immediately as a forecast suggested “catastrophic” flooding. However, about 300 residents have decided to stay, Mayor Henry Braun said at a late-night news conference.

The aftermath:
2022 Rockwood Roo 235S
2017 Audi Q7 3.0 Prestige w/air (yes, it actually tows that)
WeighSafe hitch - no WD or anti-sway
