After I was finished filling out the recall information, they then stated that they would inform individuals how to dispose of the recalled ones. Will find out when replacement arrives.

I wonder how other RV owners are being informed/contacted for this recall, who don't frequent forums online, etc.?

Would Forest River (original purchaser) or the purchasing dealer be responsible for notification?
Neither Forest River or the Dealer would be responsible for notification, the end owner us would be responsible to register the product by sending in the owner card. After we left them the info the manufacturer would notify us the owner.

I have five Kidde extinguishers, two in the house, one in the motorhome and two in the boat. The model numbers for the two in the house and two in the boat showed up on the recall notice and I completed the on-line claim form. Tomorrow I will call about the one in the motorhome which does not seem to appear on the model listing. They published a new number to call to register for the recall, rather than 800.880.6788 they suggest 855.271.0773

Did you check all three categories? I found my TT extinguishers in the "marine" category. The other two were in the plastic handle category.

My guess is they will tell us to discharge them and place in the garbage.

Thanks D.W. The two in my boat were in the Marine category and the house ones were in the plastic handle category. The trailer unit is a plastic handle unit manufactured on the 253rd day of 2013. It is an E10 (or E10H) model.

Edit: Just located it by selecting Canada as place of purchase. Go figure!

I hope not. They make a terrible mess.

I think not. Malfunctioning while discharging is why they are being recalled.

If you live where you can have an open fire in your yard, you can use your outdated extinguishers for you and your family to practice putting out a fire. I taught my kids how to use one when they were old enough. Hands on, real world experience. If there's a real emergency, they'll be better prepared.

Did you find the E10 on the recall list?
I also have an E10(E10H) and I could not find it on their web site. I called them and they said the E10 was not on the recall list. It looks just like my other 3(only E10 is larger) that are on the recall.

| Product Safety Recall

Summary: This product recall involves two styles of Kidde disposable fire extinguishers:
  • Plastic handle fire extinguishers
  • Plastic push-button fire extinguishers
This Recall does not include Kidde Professional or Badger branded fire extinguishers. Units with metal handles/valve assemblies are not included in the recall.
Follow These Steps:
1. View the following links to determine if you have an affected model:
• Plastic handle fire extinguishers: Open to view the Fire Extinguisher ID Guide (Opens in new browser window)
• Push-Button Fire Extinguishers: Open to view the Fire Extinguisher ID Guide (Opens in new browser window)
2. If you believe that you may have an affected model, before continuing, also use the Fire Extinguisher ID Guide (link above) to locate and collect your Model Number, Serial Number, and Date Code (if applicable). The Date Code is a 10-digit number printed on the side of your fire extinguisher, near the bottom. Digits five through nine represent the day and year of manufacture, and these five numbers are what you will need to proceed.
3. When you are ready to proceed, select your unit from the list below. Note: If you have a push button model used on a personal watercraft such as a JET SKI®, be sure to select the personal watercraft option.

On the outside this seems like a good idea but- ONE REASON FOR THE RECALL IS THE NOZZLE CAN BLOW OFF WITH LETHAL FORCE.
This is in the fine print of the recall notice.
