I bought a used 2013 mini light on January 10 from camping world in Arizona. Love the trailer, but I am still waiting for the title and registration..

The Camping World scenario is very similar to what has been occuring in the Ag Tractor retail market. All the independent JD Dealerships and the independent New Holland dealerships are being gobbled up and or forced out of business by conglomerate multiple dealerships. IMO, it's a bad trend.

I prefer the ,mom and pop' dealerships over the glitzy multiple owned ones. I like personalized service and communication versus the supermarket approach.

Supermarkets are fine for groceries, not so good for major purchases because the after the sale service and relationship usually sucks.

Soft Opening? Do they have a huge banner on the front of the building that says "Welcome Suckers"?

It would even be better if it had Marcus's smiling face on the end of it. LOL

My son used to be a mechanic for one of the Camping World stores near here. At his location, the joke among mechanics was that "RV" stands for "Ruined Vacation".

You have my condolences. May the members be kind to you as one would be kind to a newborn baby or a special needs individual.

As I go forth looking for my used unit, I sincerely appreciate those who went before me and paid full price for a new unit, at a dealership, and for the warranty needed to fix all the build failures, and for not having the time to use their unit or pay for the repairs, maintenance, and gas...such that I can buy and fix up a low mileage unit that has sat at their house to be shown off to their neighbors.

Especially for those who bought at Camping World. I love you.

I do not understand this scenario. This company, Camping World, continues to grow exponentially, and if I've ever read a complimentary word about them, I can't remember it... in my 7 or so years of being involved with RVs. How does that happen? How can a company with that bad of a sales and service reputation, not only survive, but thrive in a market where a bad reputation would seem to be a show stopper? With all of the bad press, I've never spent a dime in one of their locations. I don't get it.

Pretty simple actually..

Like old Ollie used to say...'Stack 'em deep and sell 'em cheap'

When you sell volume like they do, they can offer substantial off list price discounts to dazzle a buyer into buying.

The after the sale service sucks but no one looks at that. All they look at is how cheap the sale was.

'I got the deal of a lifetime at CW'.

When you need service or warranty issues arise, don't go back there...

Then the grief begins...

Never dealt with them. Both my units were purchased from a 'mom and pop' business. I like the interaction for one and the after thew sale service commitment as well and I don't shop price as a rule.

Shopping for the rock bottom price usually causes the other aspect of ownership to suffer.... Service.

I liked the comment RV...Ruined Vacation.

It is very easy to understand, if you read across many RV forums, that experienced RV members are not the target market of camping world.

If you are, which you aren't, one of the beloved RV forum instant experts who became an expert just because they bought an RV, but needs help finding an electrical switch or discovered the CW PDI missed a lot of stuff, you are one of those camping world wants to sell to. They thrive on the expectations of the inexperienced, unknowledged, unresearched, emotional dream based credit to waste buyers looking for an escape vehicle...which is the bulk of the new entry level market.

Yup! Newbees buy there. Then they get some RV time and discover their error but it is too late.

I very much enjoy hitting the clearance racks at CW... you can get some junk really cheap sometimes.

As said by that famous circus-tier, PT Barnum, "There's a sucker born every minute". Philos3 has it right.
There are 3 types of people that keep Campers World going: Those that do not know. Those that know and don't care. Those that like shiny new stuff and don't care. Until someone comes along and is honest and cares about their customers, CW will flourish.
