New Surveyor Select 5W

I happened to find this on line...no mention of this new product line on Forest River's site.

Hey Dave,

I think I found the model under the surveyor line, eastern division and then under the fifth wheel icon in the top right corner.

Looking for something new?

Maybe, if you're looking to buy my current one!

I see the Surveyor 5W listing now...wasn't looking hard enough. I do believe that these have just been introduced though.

Surveyor used to make 5W's but discontinued production a couple of years ago from what I can recall.

I am in the process of buying a new Surveyor SV293 and would be interested to know if anyone has any experience with the Surveyor fifth wheels.

I don't think your hitch would fit well on my sequoia roof!

I think you are right, surveyor took a couple years off making the fifth wheels. They weren't in the brochure for a bit ('09 to now?)

It appears that the surveyor 5th wheels don't use torsion suspension any more from the online brochure

As I said, these have just been introduced...doing a google search almost draws a blank. I'd suspect that the brand has been brought back to life using existing floorplans of another FR brand with some minor changes.

You might have to provide the initial feedback!

My gosh. How many trailers does FR make in all the brands combined?

Better yet, how do you realize you're missing one?

Any resource on the forum listing all of the different FR brands, etc.? It would be a great way to kill some down time...

Here's a link to the Forest River site... Forest River Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway Company: RV, Cargo Trailers, Boats, Commercial, Housing

Note the links to Coachman, Dynamax, Palomino, Prime Time and Shasta at the bottom of the home page.

I went ahead and plunked down the funds for a new Surveyor 5th wheel SVF293. Nice floor plan and they have a promotion going that gets some upgrades at no cost. Really liked the folding bike rack/platform that is tied into the frame above the back bumper. Hoping to be able to put a small motorbike on the back for putting around campgrounds. In the end, with all the choices there are in new fifth wheels and trailers, I tried to get as much info as possible, look at the units I was considering closely and then make a choice. Time will tell if the Surveyor is a reasonably well made unit.

Congrats on your purchase. I'd be nice if you could post some pictures on here after you take delivery.

Happy camping

Dave

Dave

I confess that I am new to the forum and don't know how to attach photos. There are 8-10 photos of new Surveyor on the dealer's website demartinirv.com and look under fifth wheels and it is the Surveyor 293RL.

You're welcome.
Just right-click on a picture and choose "copy image URL". Then click the picture button on your message and when the pop-up window comes up, paste the URL in there.
BTW-Sweeeeet trailer!

I just ordered a SVF293 and it goes into production April 8. We're planning to go to the factory and look at it being built. Can't wait.

We have been looking for a new camper for about 6 months, it is a daunting task. We were going to go look at a Rockwood Ultra Lite 8289ws this weekend, and now I'm wondering if we should take a look at this new Surveyor 293rl. It looks like it might have just a little better layout. I wonder how solid the floors are in either of these lightweights...
