Safety slam friction hinge entry door binding

I have a 2021 Cherokee 23 RD-L. My problem is the door is coming apart at the bottom an sides! It is very hard to open as it is binding at the bottom hinge! Camping World solution was to lubricate it....they did but it still binds and is getting worse! Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?

Let me ask if you have the "Fold out steps, like Step above"? The ones that tip into the inside doorway! Youroo!!

I will reply about your "Slam Hinge"issue! First we are not proponents of "Door Slamming" although Many people DO Slam their RV Doors! Now in regards to your Hinge if when deploying your STEPS they are Not adjusted to Stop in the proper location in relationship to the Threshold, then someone steps on the steps that will BEND the bottom HINGE! It Only takes 1 Time and the Bend is permanent! Step to Ground adjustment is VERY Critical and Must be Checked after Moving RV! Youroo!!

Safety slam is what Cherokee has on all their brochures! We also don't slam the RV door! Lol As for the one step, it has always been adjusted to where we camp, so the threshold never sticks up,but lays level with the threshold! Anyway, I don't see how it would affect the door hinge! Maybe there is something I am missing!

"Safety Slam"!!! What an oxy-moron. A door should never need to slam.

The best way to adjust a door is with the hinges. Unfortunately most people focus on the latch. Many times it is a simple tightening of loose hinge screws or the screws securing the door frame.

As a locksmith I have had lots of experience adjusting doors to close and latch easily for security. However, little time was spent fixing RV doors in the field. I wish I could be more help but I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction other than to say study every screw on the hinge side of the door unless the problem is with the latch.

I am pretty sure that "Safety Slam" is a brand name for a friction hinge that is supposed to *prevent* slams. It sounds like the hinge on the OP's rig is binding and causing problems with the door skin.

My 2109S door was so tight that the door frame would flex when I moved the door. Lubing the door hinge will not help. I took a small chisel and opened the bottom hinge a small amount where the hinge wraps around the pin. Now it moves so much easier, but not so much to slam... it still has some friction.

Maybe I missed the statement, but I think they are trying to lessen the slam open events as opposed to slamming shut.

Door hinge binding

We have a 2021 16pf, we’ve only had it 2 weeks and it appears the bottom hinge is binding. It’s hard to open and I’m pretty sure that is an anti-slam feature, good idea but poor engineering...our door is coming apart at the bottom. We tried lubricating it and no good results. Has anyone had good luck at a dealership? We are reluctant to use camping world and it’s a little bit of a drive to where we purchased it. Has anyone figured out a solution that won’t void the warranty?
