Upcoming VA. RV Shows

FWIW, there are 2 RV shows coming up in Va. over the next couple of weeks.

The Washington area RV show is in Chantilly VA. from Jan. 15th to the 17th.

And the Richmond RV show is February 12th to the 14th.

I have been to both of these in the past, and plan on attending both again this year. You never know what kinda deal might be had.

The one in Chantilly is off of Rt 28 and Rt 50 I believe, It is there at the back entrance to the Air and Space Museum. On one side of Rt 50 is Lee Highway and on the other side of Rt 50 is Chantilly Baptist Church Lane.

We have been to the Chantilly show in past years but won't get there this year. It is about a 3.5 hour drive for us so it makes for a long day. Richmond is closer and we hope to hit that one this year.

For those of you that attended the Washington area RV show because of this thread, I sincerely apologize. In years past, the show has been somewhat crowded in both of the buildings at Dulles Expo, but enjoyable. But Afinity Shows decided to squeeze everything into 1 building this year. That means double the people in 1 place, instead of spread out in 2 buildings. How the heck did they expect to pack RV shoppers from a crowded area like D.C., Northern Virginia, and southern Maryland into just 1 building?? There were lines getting into most RVs, long lines at the lunch counters, and people were elbow to elbow just about everywhere. I refused to go into the most crowded RVs. After driving 85 miles each way, this was a very unpleasant experience. I will refuse to go through this again unless they can do the show in both Expo buildings.

On top of all of that, they raised the prices this year for admittance. Geez. More money to be in a cattle drive.

I will now get off or my soapbox.

Well I am glad I didn't go after all. We had discussed going earlier this week but decided not to. I hope they haven't screwed up the Richmond show like that.

Kim, I am going to try to find out ahead of time whether Afinity is going to use all of the buildings before I head down there. I know in years past that McGeorge's has 1 whole building dedicated to just them. and the other building is a complex of 5 or so annexes. I can't find out from the Afinity website, so I might just give RIR a call if I can't find it on their website.

Will post here with results.

I had a friend contact Affinity concerning the Richmond show, and they said it would be in all annexes as in years past, with McGeorges taking the entire 2nd building along with Camping World. The also wrote that they intend to go back to 2 buildings at Dulles next year, but we will check for sure then.

FWIW, the Richmond RV Show was just as good as previous years, with plenty of dealers in attendance, and plenty of campers on display in all of the buildings that have been used in previous years. Definitely not like the fiasco at Dulles this year.
