Big trip new Roo 23ikss. Any advice on trailer prep.
Heading to Yellowstone in a few weeks in out new Roo. Did some checkout trips and all is good. Wondering about wheels, tires etc do I need to check bearing grease, etc. can I depend on a fresh from the factory unit on a 3400 mile trip?

Go for it! Just make sure you change the oil on the tv! Lol Check the pressure in the spare and the tires and enjoy your vacation! I'm jealous! Cheers

I would give everything a quick look, air pressure and lift each tire and give it a spin.

Check the grease in the bearings. Not always well greased from the factory.

I think you got just about every answer possible. My advice is - if you're worried about it; check it and remember Murphy's Law. You can't prevent every possible thing that can go wrong, but a thorough check of both the tv and the trailer (including everything in between) cna sure make you feel safer. The important thing is to have fun!!

What are you using for power out there? Only one campground in the park has electricity. Also, bring some warm clothes. I wore my winter coat in July!

- be sure your TV has had a recent oil, transmission fluid, and rear differential fluid change
- check your tire pressure regularly
- keep your speed below 65mph
- camp for free along the way using http://www.overnightrvparking.com
- create a thread on here and post your adventures. A lot of us would love to make that trip.
Be safe and have fun!

Yep, unless you're staying outside the park, you'll have to dry camp.
Fishing Bridge CG, the only one inside YNP with hookups, doesn't allow soft-sided campers there. No tents, no popups, no hybrids unless you turtle in your hybrid.
If you're dry camping, hope you're experienced at it.

Lake Hebgen - Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground & Marina
We stayed about 15 miles north of West Yellowstone on Lake Hebgen.
Campground was Yellowstone Holiday | Camping Fishing RV Campgrounds. They had heated floors in the shower rooms! We were there two years ago in early May so pretty much had our pick of sites. I would stay there again.

I upgraded to dual grp 24 batteries and bought a Honda 2000 wt genny. Per the great advice from BikenDan I should need to charge every other day unless it gets really cold and we need to run furnace a lot, then perhaps charge every day. I have a volt meter and will play it by ear. I got a portable grey water tank for the bed of my truck and a pump to move grey water to it. (could also drag it behind the truck is I have too). Also a portable 5 gal tank to replace the fresh. Will not use black tank except liquids in the middle of the night. Plan to use campground restrooms and shower house. They also have a dish washing station so all in all, minimal water usage I hope.
By the way, that one CG with electricity - Fishing Bridge - does not allow soft sided campers due to bear issues. We are staying only 2 miles away at Bridge Bay for 7 days (with 1 trailer and 2 tents having a family reunion with our kids and grand kids who live in various states) so I hope they have the bears trained to stay in their own CG.
You bet lots of warm clothes. The last time I was in YS in July we got 6 inches of snow overnight. Pretty much collapsed our tent. Luckily I was young and didn't care too much. Now I will just turn up the heat and roll over. Oh yea, got PUGs and Reflectex too.

Don't you have to have a HARD side trailer to camp in Yellowstone?

NO!
There's a lot of misinformation out there, about soft-sided campers in Yellowstone.
Only ONE campground at YNP, has a permanent ban on soft sided RVs, Fishing Bridge CG.
All the other CGS allow them.
Tell me something, if you had to have a hard sided trailer, why would they allow tents to camp there? :what:

I just got back from this trip a week ago. You have gotten some great advice. I would add to get a good coat of wax on the front of your camper. It took me several hours to remove all the bugs you get from traveling that far. My kids were calling the camper "the exterminator"!

Bring spare fuses? If one should blow they are a PITA to find when out on the road. Also make sure you have a decent assortment of tools.
Sounds like an awesome trip hope you enjoy it and be safe, Happy Camping 👊
