DIY Outdoor Sink Idea

Put this little guy together in time for my camping trip this weekend.

I now have hot and cold running water outside to wash hands and dishes. No more washing dishes in the tiny sink inside my Roo19! I get the water source from the hot and cold fresh water low point drains on the back of my Roo19 by running two 15 foot hoses to the faucet built into the top of a plastic tote. I had to purchase a couple of fittings from Lowes to get the right type of threads for the low point drains and faucet connections. It took a little bit of trial and error to get the fittings right because you can't directly fit a garden hose to the low point drain or faucet connections. The threads are different. When I'm done camping, the hoses wrap up and store inside the tote along with anything else I want to fit in there. The water collects in a five gallon bucket that sits underneath the table below the drain. I use the collected water at the end of the night to put out my camp fire. All in for about $50 if you already have a table and totes.

That is a pretty neat idea.

Saw a plastic folding table with a built-in sink in Home Depot/Lowes/Menards (don't recall which one). Seems it would be easier, but probably not cheaper. I think it ran about $85. You'd still need to supply the hoses and bucket.

I also saw something similar at Dick's Sports to what you are referring to at Home Depot/Lowes/Menards. That's what caused me to research the idea to come up with something using stuff I already had on hand. I built my own for a couple of reasons. I already had a table and didn't want to bring an extra one every time I went camping. The pre-built ones hook to one garden hose so there is no option for both hot and cold water. The pre-built ones would still require modification to the connection since the hose threads are not compatible with the water connection threads on my Roo. Using totes as I did allows me the flexibility to store camping stuff in them when traveling to and from my campsite.

Good idea. Can you provide detail photos of the water connections?

If I do something like this I won't bother with the drain. I'll just pick up the sink and dump it in the bucket.

Nice job. Much better than the ol' big bowl of water & dish soap on the table! I would also like to see some pics of the connections/hook up. This would be awesome for boondocking especially with the kids.

I'd love to have a hot and cold water outside for cooking and dishes. We prefer to be outside. The outside shower would work great if it were on the other side of the camper. Anyone develop a solution? Thinking about finding a way to connect hoses to the low point drains or to the outdoor shower. Anyone do something like this already? Thanks for sharing your solution.

We built this when we had our popup (added a second tub for soaking since this photo and clip-on light for those late nights ; ). Slid a bungee cord thru a roll of paper towel and hooked it on top bar. Attached a piece of hose to the drain in the sink and ran it into our portable gray tank. Used outdoor shower for sprayer. Great having hot water to do dishes!

Nice. Light weight and low cost. I just wish my shower was on the opposite side of the trailer.
