Gizmo`s Help

Last week I ordered a set of Super High Wind Pop Up Gizmo`s for our 2014 Shamrock/Roo 21SSL. I ordered them with the velcro sewn in or pre-installed. My question is what is everybody using to keep the camper-side velcro in place? Type of glue, epoxy, adhesive?
Pics would be great along with hints or tricks to install the velcro.

I have the same installed on currently on my pop up and I will be installing new ones on my new roo once I get it. I used exterior liquid nail along with small wood screws with washers as extra insurance. If you have a commercial tarp or sewing place near by you will find that they have a much nicer and heavier duty adhesive Velcro than what you can find in a box store. Also they usually will sell it to you much cheaper since you will only need 2 or 3 small sections.

Quick update on my new Super High Wind PUG'S w/velcro pre sewn in ...Great fit so far. Outstanding fit & finish. Velcro is next. Here's what I'm using.

Hello, any update on this. I will be ordering the super high wind set my self soon. Just would like to know how you attached the velcro and how it came out.

I roughed up the surface with sand paper cleaned with alcohol then ran a bead of Liquid Nails Fuze-It pressed the velcro on & masking taped it. Bad weather today so I'll update soon.

The Pop up Gizmo`s performed flawlessly. Here are some pics of them velcroed in. Saturday night it got windy 32mph gust for about 4 hrs....Gizmos didn't budge. No condensation build up on the tent ends in the morning. I just left them velcroed in place, unhooked the bungy's & folded the Gizmos up with the tent ends. Very easy & Highly recommended!

Thanks for this info. I have always been interested in getting some PUGs for my 21ss but thought it would be another item on the setup / take down list. If I can just fold them up with the bunkends and only remove for periodic cleaning and off season storage that would be ideal.
Does anyone else do it this way?

I bet you could. How heavy are the Gizmos? It doesn't look like too much bulk to tuck in with the canvas.....worth a try.

Yes, I do exactly that. I bought them on in spring of 15 and they still look fine. I leave them on it all year except for when it's winterized which is from right around thanksgiving till the end of January.

Getting ready to install these this week. I'm assuming the masking tape is to hold the Velcro strip to the adhesive until it 'cures'?

I saw where others used screws to help adhere it but I'm hesitant to put any additional holes into my rig, unless 100% needed. I'm must be old school because i'm still trying to wrap my head around liquid nails being used for something other than wood to wood bondage!!
Also, I may be stuck with the Velcro that the box stores sell. That or Amazon....

Unless you can find some Stainless Steel staples I might avoid them. Regular staples would rust pretty quickly.

That's true about the rusting, I'll have to see what I can find. I don't want to use screws I know that. I got my velcro just at Lowes so we'll see how it holds up.

I did find some 'industrial strength' Velcro to use. I bought it when I found it months ago, I believe that was the name on the package. Another product I used in my daughters dorm room was made to hang pictures to the wall and worked pretty well. It wasn't Velcro, but a very stiff hook tape to stick to another stiff hook tape, kind of spikes on both. It still may be no better than the adhesive it sticks with, but it may be a good bond for a part of the run across the bunk. I've got it in the back of my mind to try 'somewhere'..... nothing sticks to the walls or shower in the camper.

My high wind pugs just came in today and I also had the velcro added. I'll be using liquid nail to the hook side inside the bunk frame and leave the pugs on there forever.

I'm going to try and sew casings on survival blankets. If it goes well, I will run cord through to tie on. I got bungee clips to connect under the bunks, and I might use a binder clip or two. I have 3 bunks, so everything is x3. I saved on the blankets, under $9 if I remember correctly. All the twill tape and such added up, bit still cheaper.
