Use a plastic scraper or a 1" wide piece of plexiglass with the tip beveled to a 60 degree angle. Like a window scraper.

Even after you scrape it off, do not be surprised if the new silicone detaches from any areas the original silicone was. It is very hard to completely remove it. On top of that nothing, not even new silicone, will stick to old silicone. I like to use polysulfide caulk instead.

I use these to remove the old sealant on my RV. I don’t use silicon but Geocel sealer. That is what FR uses on their seams around the RV on the vertical sides...

Thanks for asking. I need to reapply caulk a few different areas and am following along.

Just scrape and clean best you can. I have several plastic scrapers of different styles and sometimes it simply takes elbow grease. Another reason it is so important to use the proper stuff to begin with.

Plastic scrapers is a must. Elbow grease with mineral spirits on a rag followed up with isopropyl alcohol to get the rest up. Never liked silicone caulk anywhere but a shower especially outside of rv

I had to remove a bunch of sealer/caulk not long ago on my roof. I used a knife blade on my Oscillating Multi-Tool (clone of a Fein Tool) and was able to carefully "shave" it off.
