Mounting Sewer Tote Under Camper
Hey guys, I would post some pics, but the weather is not cooperating. Anyways, I got myself a 15gal Blue 2 wheel tote, and seen some images of people mounting it under their unit. Some were quite elaborate. I got mine up using 2 ratchet straps, although I am thinking of adding a 3rd just for extra peace of mind. Couple of questions to throw out.
1) Should I put some king of foam between the plastic and the wood? Or maybe spray the wood with plati-kote bed liner?
2) Anyone see any issues using ratchet straps as opposed to some other method of keeping it up.
Here are some of the pics I did find...

I really would be interested in seeing how this turns out. I really don't have a good place to carry one on my Roo.

I will take a few pics when I can. It seems like a successful mod. I used 2 ratchet straps. Fished them over the black tank and connected them to the crossmember on the back side of the black tank. I drilled 2 holes in yhe crossmember to the back side of the gray tank and put the hooks through those holes. I am working 12 hour nights all week, and need to head to the gym, so it may be a challenge to head over to the camper and get pics.

I carry mine on a rear bumper rack.It attaches to the bumper with a 2" bolt on female receiver.Mine is a 27 gallon. Also has room for the beer cooler.
What goes in....must come out.
Buy both at harbor freight for $100 prox.
No ratchet straps for Me

How much would that weigh? I believe that's like putting bikes on the back bumper; too much weight.

not really.
nothing like putting bikes on the bumper. a 22 gallon one only weighs about 15 lbs. and wouldn't hang out and away from the bumper, like bikes do.
the average adult bicycle weighs over twice as much.

My best guess is 50# or less for the whole deal.It really is no stress on the bumper. The beer cooler is the heavy one.

I'd be interested in the under-frame mount. Currently I carry it upright in the bathtub of my 21DK but would rather not.
I have no qualms about carrying it on the bumper because it's so light but that seems like an invitation for theft, and looks tacky. Under the frame it's out of sight.
My concern would be ease of building the mount and ease of storage/removal. I use the tank rarely so I wouldn't have to detach it often, but don't want it to be a hassle.

Oh man, I thought I took pictures. Well, after a 1900 round trip, it is still strapped tight underneath. I could have left it at home, but one campsite didn't have sewage, so I brought it just in case. Didn't need it. Again, I will try and take pics.

Ahh, and my Jeep gets nearly 30MPG empty and 15+ towing. Of course, I could probably do the same with a Ram Truck 1500 EcoDiesel.
