Last year in MAY we took a 3 month trip to SW from Md with our Roo. On the 3rd day we lost a long piece of the skirt/trim with the solar connection, from the wind in Kansas. When we discovered this it was at a rest area and the wire that was ripped out of solar plug was sparking(live) and we also discovered that the skirt had been pushed in to the tire and the sharp edge was just beginning to scrape the tire. Fortunately, we averted any catastrophes(explosion or blowout). We had the solar port redrilled in our front deck (21bd) and we decided to get a new skirt after trip. Never did that, and it is a good thing. Now we are on another 3 month trip to the NW and it has happened again only to the other side and in ND. I was driving and looked out and saw the slide out wire flapping in the wind. We caught it in time so this wire wasn't ripped out and AGAIN the panel/skirt/trim was gone. No disaster but could have had same results. These skirts are flimsy, too long and dangerous. I am camped at TRNP now looking at a Kodiak next to us and their trim is streamlined, short and of much more sturdy material. Has anyone else experienced this? Dealer in Denver where we had the original issue addressed said new Forest River hybrids lose there skirts in transport. We don't want them replaced when it will continue to happen.

Never happened in my two Roos, but it did happen with my BIL's 33' TT.

So far, our Shamrock has remained skirted.... and since the Roo and Shamrocks are twins manufactured on the same line they should have the same build quality/issues.
We have towed a bit over 9300 miles over two seasons.

We bought our 23IKSS March last year and have put 10K miles on it so far, including high winds in Utah and have had no problem.

If no manufacturing problem found(lack of screws, etc) , can it be possible that the cargo that you are putting on the tongue is changing the air flow and causing it to direct hit the skirts from under?

They were not made to get a direct hit of 65 mph winds constantly for sure...

We haven't had any issues with the skirting in close to 10,000 miles towing, but there are some threads here where others have issues with this, so you aren't alone.


Not sure if the root cause is design or workmanship since the problem seems random.

This has been resolved. Contacted Deb Rimsa at Rockwood in Millersburg Indiana who worked us in at the factory since we happened to be traveling through there. Dropped off camper and in a few hours the skirting and wheel covers were completely replaced. Thanks Deb and the guys at the plant for being so accommodating. Back on the road again and looking good.

We have a 2015 Roo 19 but my son just purchased a 2017 21dk. Wondering if the factory did anything to improve the way they were attached. Not sure he'll have a problem but if it happens we won't be surprised now.

Now you know who to talk to. Since this was a manufacturing flaw, this was handled with no cost to us. My suggestion to anyone who has this issue, is to go directly thru Forest River in Indiana, take it there and they will fix it for you. Using your dealer will take a LOT of time.
