Roo Outside Bed Handle Broke Off

Anyone had to replace the outside plastic handle that locks the beds up when they are stowed? Were the parts cheap? Was it an east DIY fix or did you have to take it to the dealer? Can I replace just the handle, or do I have to replace the entire mechanism? Thanks in advance for the advice. Fly Navy!!!

I keep checking back on this thread to see if you've received any answers. I'm sure it is just a matter of time before it happens to more and more of us with the new style plastic latches.
Please post some pics of what broke and also what you end up having to do for the repair.
Thanks.

Here is the distributor http://kencon.us/

Look under baggage locks and strikes, Rotovise.

Most likely they will not sell retail but you never know. If you contact them please let us know what they say. Somewhere their has to be an RV dealer with 1/2 a brain cell, who had enough forethought to keep some on stock. They (Kencon) might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Not sure what the circumstances are that caused it to break - but did you consider trying to get it covered under warranty?
Our flimsy screen door handle broke after about 2 months. Wasn't abused but I'm sure there was some "operator error" that probably contributed to the failure. When I had it in for some other items the dealer just got it approved as a warranty item and fixed it while it was there.

Thanks for the replies. My dealer is contacting Forest River on Monday to see about getting it covered under warranty. Really wish these were metal vice plastic so they would last forever. Here's some pictures as requested. Click image for larger version

Thanks Mr. Havercamp. Thats exactly what I need to get. I'll contact them and let you know what they say if the dealership can't get the part under warranty.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Surprising the plastic snapped like that. I think someone on here had a latch break, but if I remember correctly, the pins broke or came out. I try and be very gentle with them because I don't think it is a sturdy design. I wish ours still had the old metal truck style latches. I'm tall so reaching them would not be a problem for me.

I was originally jealous of this "perk" on the Roos. I am an owner of a 2016 Surveyor and currently thankful for the very sturdy latches that we have.

This is one of the very few things I DONT like about our 21DK. I yanked on one that was locked and cringed as it flexed....

Ditto...I never even lock mine for fear I will forget and snap them off. The design is kind of cool but I too prefer the old style.
