Slide maintenance

I see several discussions on stuck or broke slides here. I know that is probably one if my biggest fears while camping.
Does anyone have useful links on the maintenance of slides? I haven't searched hard for this information yet but I'm sure it's something that should be checked regularly.

Other than a blown slideout 30 amp fuse, I never had an issue.
I used slideout lube all the time and kept the seals cleaned and conditioned.
It had a manual crank if the electric motor failed.

Consider a slide topper. It covers the slide and keeps debris from jamming the slide or damaging the top seal.

Thanks all. We do have a topper and watch the seals and all that, I guess I'm just over thinking what other maintenance it may need.

Same here... I have a topper over the slide, but I need to get some dry lube for the mechanisms and do some much needed maintenance.

I don't know it it's just me, but in the back of my mind, knowing I haven't lubed the slide drive, it seems slow... I'm sure its just me, but I'll lube it up just for piece of mind...

I have a IKSS and the dinette slide is getting a bit squeaky when going in and out. Anyone know what the mechanism looks like and which lube to use?

I haven't crawled under the open slide to have a look yet... but from what I've gathered, we need to use a dry lube, I've seen many different suggestions, but I think I'm going to go with CRC Power Lube with PTFE

As I mentioned in post #2, a slideout lube is best.
It's a dry lube and various companies have them.
Got mine at Wal-Mart.

I lubed up the tracks /runners a little last night... I then ran it in and out a few times... maybe it's my imagination, but to me it seems to slide in easier... Oh well, I'm glad I did this and will add it to the annual maintenance schedule
