18.5 years in and I'm heading out...

July 31 marks 18.5 yrs military police service. It also signifies my last day wearing the uniform.

Taking my medical release for injuries incurred in 2007 and 2009 respectfully. It was a great run though.
Met many great service persons, trained about 120 soldiers through basic and another 50 or so police officers.
Hardest thing I'm going to have to remember is that I can't stop and direct traffic at accidents and I can't speed to the doughnut shop

From a retired civilian LEO to my Military counterpart, THANK YOU for your service!

I know what you mean about the hard parts once you no longer have the "authority". But, this too shall pass.

I was supposed to be cut from the herd over a year ago, but my unit Admin chain LOST my release paperwork twice...
Imagine if i lost the paperwork on criminal investigations or drunk drivers?
Anyway it gave me another year and a half service (desk jockey) towards that small pension.

I agree with OC - I should have included your family in my THANKS.
I had 17 years as a Military Brat. While I never served on active duty, I "served" a different type of duty. I do know my father always appreciated having his family with him in all of his military years. Pulling up stakes every 2-3 years wasn't always pleasant, but I sure garnered a lifetime of experiences in those 17 years. WA, GA to CA back to WA, IL to KY, then AK, MD and then Germany and back to MD when my father finally retired - and yes, part of those years in the MP's.
Now, please enjoy life to its fullest.

First, thanks for your service Battle Buddy!

Second, that is a accurate statement. In fact I simply refer to my DW as 6 Actual these days

Congratulations from another retired Military Police officer (AF). Jump on in to the retired military life. The water is fine. Dont forget there are a lot of military campgrounds and vacation spots all around the country. Thank you for your service.

Adding my thanks for your service, Sir. Our military men and women, along with their families garner my utmost respect.

Regarding camp grounds, I think military families should have their campsites comp'd. Your years of service is what affords us the freedom to travel and enjoy this *great* nation you heroes have defended so selflessly.

Enjoy your well earned retirement!

And God Bless You.
