Air Force Frequent Camper Program

Good evening all,

I just happened to stumble upon this on the military campground website. I do not know if this is a new thing or if it has been going on for awhile. I searched around FRF and didn't see anything else posted so I thought I'd make a quick post.

It looks like a great deal. The starter kit is $25 for a lifetime membership and with that you get 5 free nights of camping at an Air Force Base. Obviously this is open to veterans.

You can earn even more free nights and points by staying in other Air Force Campgrounds. Basically, the more you stay the more you earn. It goes by locations and not by nights stay. So, if you stay at one base consistently you won't earn as many points as if you travel around to other bases.

It's certainly worth a look.

Here is a link for more information!

It's not new. My Dad did this for a couple of years when he was active on the road camping a lot. As I am still a working stiff, I don't have much opportunity to be able to visit enough FamCamps to make it worth it for me yet. Hopefully it will still be around when I do retire a second time. The FamCamps are generally a good deal, though I have seen some stinkers.

FYI retirees, you can reserve many navy FAMCAMPS online at get.dodlodging.net
Many of the AF sites do not take resverations but some do over the phone.
