It's unfortunate that each passing year finds less and less coverage \ remembrance of that fateful event in 1941. I may find The History Channel showing old footage and perhaps one of the broadcast channels will show Tora, Tora, Tora, but that's about it.

I will always remember that date. My Mom went into labor with my oldest brother when the harbour was bombed. Anytime something comes on TV about that day I try and watch it. When I was in Hawaii I went to the memorial, pretty moving experience. was the USS West Virginia hit?

My dad was in the navy but not at Pearl at the time of the attack. He was in the South Pacific, didn't talk much at all about the war. 1946 I was born, there are allot of us baby boomers. Thank you to the Greatest Generation.

Is truly a shame that people forget, mostly the veterans remember. It's easy for me, i married the most wonderful person, who is still the light of my life. 7 December 1960, we are married 54 years.

The visitor's center at Pearl Harbor and the short boat trip out to the US Arizona should be on EVERY American's bucket list.'

The Arizona, still, leaks a bit of oil all the time. While we were on the memorial above it, an elderly WWII vet dropped some flower petals on the water and within a few minutes some oil came up the surface...wasn't a dry eye on the place. (I snapped a few pictures.)

My wife and I visited in 71 while I was on R&R from Vietnam, very sobering to think of all those lost right below us in the hull of that Magnificent Battleship. In 1971 while on the DMZ we heard a tremendous roaring sound overhead, I thought it was jets and radioed my LT back in base camp, he said it was a Battleship, the hills ahead of us started to get a lot smaller, I was glad it was ours.

Here is the picture of the oil that came up after the WWII veteran dropped some flower petals into the water over the USS Arizona.
