I have been to quite a few. Some have been in the same site a year or more. The CG at Youngstown Oh -- check the photo and see 100# propane tanks as the owners are rarely there. 3 of 5 pull thru are never open, units never move. Far from the only CG either. There are a few that permit up to 180 days to all.

Apache Flats RV Resort On Ft. Huachuca in Sierra Vista Arizona. We had a great shady spot here. Nice base. Good facilities. Beautiful sunsets!

Okay I’m done. Sorry so many separate messages but I had to go through my photos to jog my memory of the places we’ve stayed. Probably missed some.

Ditto and along with that, download UC Public Campgrounds app. Since we only stay in public campgrounds it is all we need. Includes SP, NF, NP, rec areas, COE, BLM, municipal and city parks. There may be a small fee for UC public campgrounds app but it is priceless to us. We are on our 3rd cross country trip and have not been disappointed yet.

I believe if one wants to see the Thunderbirds before they go on tour one would have to be at Nellis AFB Nevada. One might get a glimpse of the Blue Angels if at Pensacola though.

Yes, this is true, but they don't move to California until March if I'm correct, that is why I go in January. They practice daily when in Pensacola. They also break in the replacement pilots there from there new rotation of 2 years. I have tons of pictures of them on there tar Mac before they leave for the home winter base.

Yea I was disappointed in the new campground rules at FT Fisher In Kure Beach North Carolina, now you can stay there six months at a time plus clubs can rent the campsites in the off season and you only need one ID card. I have heard at Camp Lejeune Marine base (Onslow Beach) gives a discount in the off season. I don’t mind it to bad but all the sites get hogged up. But nowadays it seems like it’s all about the money

MWR has always been about the money. They are a Non-appropriated Fund Activity. Other than salaries and real estate they receive no money from the Defense Budget. They do receive payments from AAFES, NEX and MCEX, but for the most part they must generate their own funds. Overall, the value they offer is pretty good compared to the private sector.

So I guess you are saying it’s alright to rent to non veterans and let people hog up all the sites in the off season

That's not at all what I said. What you have to realize is that it is the prerogative of that Post or Base Commander to extend privileges (key word here), to DOD Civilians assigned to that installation.

It would be great if someone at DoD would have guts enough to make it regulatory the the max time limit at any one camp ground be 30 days then find a new home, not a new spot. Way too many homesteaders at many bases/posts.
