Is it just me or does it seem like more and more people go out of their way to say "thank you for your service" these days?[/QUOTE]

More people are saying it…to my husband. When they learn I did 21 years I get a raised eyebrow or a 1/2 smile with, "That's nice."

The honor goes to us all brother. You stepped up to the plate and were willing to serve. Many out there didn't. Thank you for your service.

It happens so much more these days... I've been in the military in some form or another for 25 years now and back when I first joined I never heard it. these days I get it all the time, and I return the gesture when I have the opportunity. I've even had lunches paid for when I'm out in my uniform. It's a good thing, I really hope the trend continues...

Send a message via AIM to lakeeffect
Was a FAC in the AF for 8 years. Saw a lot of duty in NAM in 66 and 67,68. Had to walk back to many times. Got out in 1970 and worked for FAA for 25 years. Just love the retirement.

It is true that the gals don't get the recognition deserved. We gals also don't wear the hats that show our service like you guys do. People would be surprised at the number of us gals who have served if we did wear vet hats.

I don't care if the veteran is a man, a woman, was in during peacetime or during a war. Everyone deserves a big thank you from every citizen in these United States because they all signed the same blank check worth up to and including the value of their life and could have been called on to give it at anytime. Thank you all!

Glad to see that we have so many veterans on here! I've been on active duty in the Army since 2007. I spent five years in the infantry world before switching over to the signal corps. I've been a all over, but I'm currently stationed in NC and loving the weather over the past few weeks.

I'm not seeing many of my fellow JarHeads chiming in so I'll post up.
Nice to see the veteran plates on the RVs when my wife & I walk the RV Park.
She keeps wondering when a Marine Corps flag is going to appear on the motorhome...
I've refrained from doing so up to this point. 😉

Thanks to everyone for your service to our great country. As for myself I served 20 year 7 months 4 days in the USAF but who counted. Traveled a good part of the planet and now about to retire from teaching special education for the past 22 years. Looking forward to traveling our beautiful country in our 5er.
