Well, it is a MILITARY campground, so i would say they do cater to military personnel (active duty and retired). Now, for those who separated and don't fit either category, they probably can't use. But, they can't shop on base either.
Maybe with the new Vets ID separated veterans can use it. I dunno.

Note: I failed to mention this does not allow you to carry on base in any way shape or form. It does allow you to transport in a secured manner to and from any on base shooting activity or when you exit or enter the base. So basically if your on base camping and going to an on base location other than a hunting area or range you leave your firearm at the campground. If your going to town it remains secured/unloaded in your vehicle until your out the gate and back secured upon gate reentry. I do not feel a need to carry on base any longer (I was an MP) On base you have 100's of armed security looking after you. What happens in the RV stays in the RV

I recently stayed at Hill AFB famcamp. $20 and it was right at the end of my driving day. It was a nice place and I have no complaints. I also stayed at March ARB famcamp in March. At least I felt safe there. Again, it was a nice place to spend a couple of nights at a much cheaper rate than anything else in the Riverside area. I utterly detest going to CA, but it's the only way I get to see my daughter and grandchildren.

I feel pretty safe on base but you never know this day and age. Some military campgrounds aren’t on base. Sometimes I don’t feel safe at military campgrounds not on base but I don’t carry a gun, I had enough of that with two tours in Nam.

Anyway after 3 suicide attempts myself I got the PTSD treatment I needed. It took me about 3 times attending various VA programs the last one after I broke my own neck.
I advocate for other vets to the best of my ability. I was living in my car for years as I prefer not to be around civilians. I am also retired from the US Dept of Justice.
So I am unsure what your post was supposed to mean.
But I figured I would share my story with you. It is the dreams that kick my ass. Both stateside murders, car accidents, seing my troops blown up etc.
In the early days we vets were taught not to speak of our weakness. Well after multiple self life attempts I learned to speak of such or I would be dead.

I had the pleasure of meeting WW2 Vet at a VA hospital several years ago. He was still suffering form PTSD occasionally when he closed his eyes/ slept and that was over 70 year ago!

I know this is an older post but I felt that I needed to update things here. There is a bill working it's way through congress that would open this and the onbase exchanges to disabled veterans regardless of the level of disability.

Stayed at the FamCamp at the USAF Academy for graduation. Nice place. However, they need to spell check their signage....unless they got "an offer they could not refuse" lol.
I am not a Vet, but thanks to those of you that are!

When I spoke to the campground manager, he said the signs had been up for some time, and nobody else (him included) saw the error either. Funny how the mind will auto- correct!

I hope this is not true. Every single veteran out there can get some level of of disability. this would cut out every retiree and every severely disabled veteran from having a way to stay on base.

Huh? It's adding people. I see nothing in it that cuts out anyone.

Add another million vets to who can go and you might as well open it up to anyone. Not all vets can get on base or go to the commissary or exchange either. Same logic.

Sorry, I still don't get your logic. Anyone who could go before can still go. Now a few more can go.
Not me; I was just a swabbie. I don't have a Purple Heart, a Medal of Honor, I'm not a POW, and I don't have a service-connected disability.
All of whom, IMHO, certainly deserve a break like this.

There are a HUGE amount more, a heck of a lot more than a FEW. Hundreds of thousands more. But i will quit this dialogue. I have my opinion and it differs from yours. But i will say, thank you for your service.

Interesting. Not sure it would be worthwhile to enter a military base to use exchange/commissary or mwr facility. Look foreword to seeing how it works out.
