Nicest Military Campground you have used?

What is the nicest and best located campground on any military base you have stayed at?

Agave Gulch Campground
Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ
Nice location weather wise during winter
Close to Tuscon and the old wild west.
Great park with grass & trees, level spaces, laundry, ice maker, clean bathrooms with showers. Great view of all the old planes that are moth balled.

162 spaces with full hookup 30/50 amp - $17 to $20 a day!

We spent a week at NAS Mayport in Jacksonville ,Fl and its right on the mouth of the St Johns river. The sunsets are great and you have all kinds of ships going and coming. We even have pictures a Canadian Sub.

Do you have to be military or ex military to get in? If it makes a difference I do work for them FAA which is officially under the DOD.

In some locations DOD / Civil Service employees may be allowed.
You will have to check the locations rules.

Kings Bay naval base just won some award for being the very best in the system. It is in GA.

I just spent three nights at the Navy Recreation Center in Solomon Island, MD. I was pleasantly surprised by the facility. We were in the F sites, which are very large sites with more then enough room between neighbors. There are a few full timers there, but they seem to be centrally located to the sites on the North end. Nice pier, beach area, and pool. Staff is very helpful. Some road noise. Solomons is a nice little town. Good food. Blood suckers were not to bad, but we had a nice breeze most of the time.

Give Quantico, VA a try.

A tad primative but full hookups and VERY nice lakeside area.

We have that down for spring 2011 trip. I was told they are revamping a bunch of the sites because of weird electrical. water lines . Hopefully they will be done by spring.

Fort Gordon Rec Area near Augusta, GA. We have stayed there a few times when we go to visit our grandchildren. It is on a lake and has many things to do. Clean bathhouses, wifi at the office, laundry also at office, playground, fishing, boating, swimming. We enjoy it there. It is the only one we have stayed at so can't compare to others. We have drove through the one at Scott AFB in IL. It doesn't look as nice but it could be.
