Now go ask a 20 or 30 something year old what happen on this day in history. See what kind of a blank stare you get. Sadly no longer taught and no longer respected by these younger generations. For all who served, thank you!

X2. I remember reading a survey - oh, lordy, 15 or more years ago - where people were stopped on the street and asked questions - history, current events, geography, etc.. IIRC, a VERY large percentage of 20/30 somethings were surprised to learn that we had even fought a war in the Pacific.

We can no longer depend on educational institutions to teach American History. And much of what they may mention is inaccurate. WE, parents and grandparents are responsible to teach the younger generations about these things. I am proud to say my grandson is a student of history at 11 years old and thrives on the historical areas we take him to, National Cemeteries and their meanings to American freedoms. He also participates in flag retirement ceremonies every year, for the past ten years. Again, it is OUR responsibility to teach them the truth.

And so history repeats. The question is, what will be the outcome next time?

Hell, they've already forgotten 9/11. Not surprised. But for those of us on this thread, neither solemn day will be forgotten.
