Right now this thread is just what branch. Duty stations, jobs, and other threads to follow. We wouldn't want to use it all up in one thread now would we??

I suspect the spread reflects the proportional sizes of the 5 services. I think Army is the largest.

Husband is a retired, Army, 06. A combination of 20 yrs active plus reserves for a total of 32 yrs.
As a family there were great times and some rough times but wouldn't change any of it. Now my husband is getting ready to retire for good the end of Feb. Our plan is a month long trip with our trailer to Key West, Fl. Can't wait!

Air Force brat, grew up in Peru. Went public safety route. I was going to enlist in 1977/78 when Carter was President but he stripped the GI Bill in a attempt to balance the budget. Career law enforcement and soon to retire.

Cavalryman

Twenty-two years of US Army service here.

Originally in the Engineers as a truck driver, later in the Armor Cav finally in Operations/Education.

Always cherish my service and the opportunities - I found a home. Always felt a little like Andy Griffith in "No Time For Sergeants". Big old country boy suddenly a long ways from home.

Something that needs to be said. The toughest job in the Army, is the Army Wife! My gal was with me from beginning to my retirement. Three kids and not one word of complaint. I'm 90% disabled and could not make it without her, God Bless Army Wives!

Yep - tough on the whole family unit. Bless them all - lots of years away, lots of anniversary, birthdays and Christmases not there but now ask me if I'd change it. Nope.

I am presently finishing up my 32nd year, waiting to be medically released. Apparently it was hard on the body when I was 25 parachuting with 3 Cdo, Canadian Airborne Regiment in the mid 80's. Now as a 51 year old MP Warrant Officer it is death by computer screen and trying not to be that dinosaur with the "Old ideas" like Truth, Duty and Honour. Proud to serve...it was good for my Grandfather, good for my father, good for me and good for my son.
