My Dad served on the Bennington around 66-67 when I was born. He was a BT, ended up retiring a CWO4 off the USS Iowa in 86.

USS Kitty Hawk, CVA-63, circa Dec, 1960, prior to her commissioning, on a shake down cruise from the Philadelphia Navy Yard, down and back up the Delaware River (taken in Wilmington DE). First pic going down, 2nd pic coming back up the river. In the first pic you can see they've lowered her mast to get under the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Wilmington. She was decommissioned in 2009 in Bremerton, WA after 48 yrs of service. I was 8-1/2 yrs old when I took these pics.

Father was Machinist's Mate in the Navy during WWII.

I enlisted in the Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman from 1965 - 1968. I spent most of the time aboard the USS Mt Baker AE-4 on Yankee Station off the coast of Vietnam.

My son was an Electrician's Mate aboard the nuclear attack subs USS Chicago and USS Olympia during his six year stint in the USN.

If you are reading this, thank a teacher. If you are reading this in English, thank a veteran.
