Making E 8 or 9 in any branch requires much more that just showing up every day. In my opinion it is one of the greatest accomplishments a military man or woman can reach. It is the senior NCOs that keep the military at the peak readiness for our next conflict and there will always be a next conflict.
I also know there are several members on this board that have reached this level. Thanks for your service and thanks for a lifetime of commitment.

Wow...I'm a little late to the party, but better late than never I guess. I spent 22 1/2 years in the Army. Two tours in Vietnam. I retired in 1990 as an E-8 1SG. I can honestly say I enjoyed almost all of it, and would do it all over again today if I thought my country needed me.

Hey, fellow Vets! I'm a retired USAF vet (MSgt-Rick), retired in 2004 after 22 1/2 years. (Sr Intel Analyst; Master Instructor; IG Team; Airborne Special Ops on the MC-130 Combat Talon; Space Operations; and First Sergeant) We live a stones throw from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs (and we park our 34 foot trailer at the Academy RV lots)
Today, I'm a group manager for an amazing small business and work out at the Missile Defense Agency at Schriever AFB.
We are very blessed and LOVE this country and, having been to 18 countries outside the USA, I know ALL too well how fortunate Americans are with our liberties and freedoms that no other nation has.
God Bless the USA!

I served in the Marines 1967-1970, with 32 months in Viet Nam. Would like to hear from any Marines from the same era. I was with 3/7/1, III MAF, and CAP.

I was on the Mississinewa from Dec '72 - Aug '75 and I remember a lot of close calls during refueling ops. I don't recall that particular one so maybe I wasn't there. My memory isn't what it used to be.
