What was/is your Favorite Assignment

My favorite assigntment was with the MFO in the Sinai in Egypt. I was stationed there for a year from Nov90-Nov91. The SCUBA diving was awesome and I got to go into Isreal and do a lot of sight seeing while over there. I was stationed on South Camp in Sharm El Sheik at the Southern tip of the Sinai.

Mine was in 1994 doing counter-drug OPS. I had a platoon of SEALs on the ship and provided a radar platform to vector their RIBS for ship takedowns. Was highly exciting and motivating to be around them. They're a little "wild" away from the job, but easily the most professional I have seen doing the job. I could say the same for the SBU guys who support them.

And got a cute lil ribbon too. I always thought the ribbon should be _hit brown with dead fly clusters.

Nope not too bad at all. I think we ended up with 13 moves. Figured in 21 years I was deployed 10. I work with a guy who spent 24 years in TDA units. Must be nice!

I don't really remember any good assignments where I was, unless I can count my R&R to Sydney. Now that was better than good. In fact, it was the goodest! Denise... Lynn... Jane, from Canberra... ah yes, the memories will last a lifetime.

MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI -- great duty and fortunately worked for great people. Nice duty with all the diving, etc.

Best place I've been stationed was Beaufort, SC at the Marine Corps Air Station. Best deployment was on the USS America (CV-66) late summer Med cruise. Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Israel, Turkey. Gotta love cruisin' on an oil burner.

Tom

BTW, is an active duty guy considered a Vet?
