Started out as emergency room tech, changed to medical lab, got in on the ground floor of the space programs. Worked with researchers on effects (affects?) of rocket fuel on the human body, also research on what causes hepatitis (a virus), then moved into the autopsy area. 74 of them in 1974. Finally put in my walking papers in 79.

Drafted in 1970 right after graduating with BSEE. Assigned to “Office of Technical Officer’s Technical Representative” at Ft Monmouth NJ. Flew around the country monitoring government contract acceptance testing of military devices. Did some minor equipment designs in-house. Worked for a civilian GS15, as I remember. Probably best job any draftee was assigned to during Vietnam War.

USAF cryptologist (20270). Now there's an interesting job with no civilian counterpart to speak of.

USAF - Weapon Control Systems Technician (F-4) from 76-91 then force retrained to Munitions Accountability Control Systems (Munitions Supply) and merged with AMMO (I.Y.A.A.Y.A.S.) sometime around 1995, where I finished my career as a Munitions Superintendent although I never built a bomb in my life.

I joined in 92 as a 461 however around 94 they redid the system and we became 2W0. Funny we still did the same job I was young and dumber then I was now. I asked why they changed seemed like it would be expensive. I was told someone probably got a promotion and wasn’t smart enough to learn the old system or they needed a promotion and it would look good on evaluation.

Generally, whatever I was told to do. Everything from turbine throttleman on a steamship to furling sails on the yardarm on the Eagle at night to helicopter pilot to cover photo for High Times to sexual misconduct investigator.
