Started as 91B, which changed to 91W, then changed again to 68W. Always a medic, just the MOS code kept changing. 10 years as an enlisted medic.

Then 62B, field surgeon. Now 61H, family medicine physician. 11 years and counting on the officer side now.

My younger self in Afghanistan:

Started out as a 63B Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. 9 years later transitioned to a 915 Maintenance Warrant until I retired. Best move I ever made!

Started out as a non designated striker in the fire room. Found out quick that was not for me. Managed to swing a transfer to the Shipfitter shop. Progressed up the ranks to HTC with certified welder designation 4952, and two trips to Viet Nam. Then commissioned to Warrant Officer 7141 designator. Two tours as Damage Control Assistant and Fire Marshal and one shore tour at NAVSAFECEN as a Damage Control Analyst where I surveyed (inspected firefighting systems on every Navy Surface Ship in commission as well as Coast Guard vessels and some Army watercraft. The highlight of all this was serving as pre-commissioning DCA on the nucleus crew of USS Whidbey Island LSD 41. Sailed her for two years after that. Retired in 1987 as a CWO 4.

We spent 16 years in Germany (4 tours). First as a crypto mech (32G), then as a helicopter pilot for the other three. First tour was 71 in Augsburg and the border sites.
