When I ordered my truck I made a list minute decision to order the 6 1/2 foot bed and it was a decision I truly love. I did buy the Reese Slider but I have never used it. I have towed many many miles in all kinds of situations but I have never had to pull the lever to let it slide.

Automatic slider hitch can also be used if 5er has a fixed pin box

I plan on using my Reese Elite hitch in my 6 3/4 bed on a standard hitch when we upgrade fifth wheel. I can turn 85 degrees which should be enough. I have a Reese Revolution on my Rockwood right now and it works at 90 or more if careful, really hard on the tires and wheels though.

X2.
I'm in this camp.
I've had my manual slider in many different 6.5' trucks and haven't had to use it. My latest 5th wheel has the Revolution and I don't use it either.
I've just never been in a situation requiring it. That's not to say the time won't come so better to have and not need than to need and not have.

Our Chevy Silverado 2500HD has a 6' 6" bed, and we just upgraded from a TT to a 2016 Cardinal 3250 5th Wheel about a year ago. We chose the Pul-Rite Super Slider hitch, and it has worked flawlessly ever since. However, late last year we added a sliding tonneau cover in order to secure the bed area of our truck when disconnected. The tonneau added less than an inch to the height of the bed sides, but enough to cause interference with the king pin frame of the trailer while backing on uneven terrain, like our own driveway!! Today we increased the height of the entire hitch by about 1.5 inches with full factory parts, and the problem is solved.

While quite heavy, I also recommend this hitch.
