I never realized there was any other way. The Thetford that I have uses the same attached hose to fill and dump at the bottom.

It has a bobber float in the vent to show full. When it starts to rise I close the trailer valve.

Cap the hose and go for a ride.

With 3 30’s I leave it home unless I know I’m going to be parked more than 10 days.

We stay 2 weeks with 8 grandkids, no sewer, so I was glad to hear of this “workaround”.

Certainly a "workable workaround".

I chose to solve problems with TT height, dump valve, height, and tank fill height, by just investing in a macerator pump.

Tank sits in back of truck where it gets filled. May have to drive a dozen or more miles to a dump station from my boondocking site so no lifting of full tank or towing at 5 mph and hoping wheels don't fall off. Side dump valve on tank makes the whole operation a no lift, no tilt, operation.

My back tells me "thanks" every time I have to dump this way.

I'd dig a small trench and bury the Barker Tank and refill the trench upon leaving.

We did 16 or 18 night stretches this summer. Family of 5. With Covid rules, we didn't use public restrooms at all this year, so we were definitely filling the black tank. Pulling a tank is a pain but where my kids wanted to camp, getting full service was not possible. Shorter camping trips would mean towing the trailer more and we'd rather tow the tote and dump (15 minute job) than tow our trailer a few hours and just camp on weekends.
