Amber lights under steps

I recently bought a 2008 Sandpiper fifth wheel and it has amber lights underneath steps. How do these lights work? Need advice......

Mine works along with the porch light also. I changed the porch light to the one with a switch on it, that way I could turn on the step light and leave the porch light off. If yours isn't working, probably a burned out bulb.

2010 sunseeker 2300. Mine work with the auto steps on. i.e. when the steps extend with the mag switch on the door., the light goes on, when the steps retract, light goes off. BUT I doubt few of us use the steps in the on position because you have to pause entering and leaving the RV for the steps to extend so most of us leave the switch in the off position. The steps retract when the ignition switch is turned on. The remaining time they are in the extended position. I do not know how they are wired in a TT or 5r. I am going to rewire mine so the step light is on when the "patio" light is on.
