Another Use for The Claw
A year or so ago I purchased the awning hold down kit from Old Coot, and along with that, based on things I read here, I got a pair of the Claw ground anchors. They work great for what I got them for, but they also have other uses.
During hurricane Dorian we saw sustained 30+ knot winds out of the northeast with the highest gust of 38 knots (~41 mph). We were VERY lucky. My 20 year old fence, not so much. The sustained winds blew a part of my fence over, breaking the posts just below ground level. I needed a way to pull it back upright, and SWMBO informed me that bringing the truck into the soggy back yard was NOT an option.
So I went to the camper, grabbed the bag with the Claws, and with two ratcheting come-alongs and some straps, I used the anchors to pull the fence back vertical. Even in the rain soaked yard the claws held without a slip, pulling nearly horizontally.
I heartily recommend The Claw for camping and any other ground anchor use.
