Camper is "wobbly" once setup

Hello Camping Friends,

I have recently purchased a 2011 Roo 233S and the family LOVES this rig, we are having a blast this summer in it. My only complaint is that once the unit is setup, we find it to be quity wobbly, I have factory installed scissor jacks and I also purchased higher end wheel chocks as well. I have been camping for years with a pop-up and found that to be more stable than this unit and it is driving my wife crazy!
Any advise is appreciated

You can't compare a short pop up o a 24 foot trailer. Put more pressure on the scissor jacks, or add some near the middle. Not sure if you are experiencing frame flex or not. Make sure you keep pressure on the tongue jack as well.

which "higher end wheel chocks" did you get?
and tell us your setup procedure. maybe you're doing something out of order or incorrectly.

I would try something like these on either side of the front frame, assuming you don't have front jacks.

DaveO; Did you get high end wheel chocks, or the wheel locks that go between the wheels and lock them from moving. With our ROO 23SS (same trl excpt no side bunk and a large slide). Ours wobbled from front to rear a lot till I got a set of cheap plastic type wheel locks that went between the tires and stopped all movement.

You will always have this feeling because of the location where you sleep. Far away from the trailer box and no support for this extra lenght. I had the same problem with my flagstaff. every time you turn in your bed at night the whole trailer shakes. Sound familiar to you?

My 31 foot Rockwood with quad bunks in the back is like a bouncy castle at night when the kids and dogs are at that end....I have yet to find a solution....got the wheel chocks....tried blocking the electric stabililizer jacks at a number of different heights....still bouncy. I think the only solution is to put 4 extra scissor jacks in the corners....ones that have no play in them, because my stabilizers seem to have a fair amount of play due to the self leveling aspect....or maybe it is frame flex...not really sure.

I have the same trailer and have tried everything I can think of from the X chocks to more pressure on the jacks. I haven't found anything that's taken the wobby out, yet.

Our 21SS moves quite a bit. Last week while I was sitting outside I seen the tires rolling to and fro while kids were walking inside. I am sure the tire chocks between the tires have to help at least a little. They are on my list..

I graduated from an older 23 foot fifth wheel to our current 31 foot bunkhouse. The fiver was solid once set up...unlike our Rockwood.

On our last camping trip I was observing our neighbours rigs awnings as they entered, exited, and moved around in the unit. I didn't see the awning move at all, yet I could look at ours while the kids were moving around inside the unit and you could definitely see the trailer was bouncing. Maybe it "is what it is"

We too have the quad bunks in the back, and you'd think the kids were elephants moving around back there!!!! Glad to hear this is a more common problem, and not something that we aren't doing!!!!

I have read that scissor jacks on either side of the axles helps alot.

Unless you completely take your tires right off of the ground you will always have some movement either side to side or front to back. Most of this movement is due to the fact that your TT or 5iver is still on the tires and axle leaf springs. I have also heard that the x-chalks work well but others say they don't. You can also purchase a product that I have seen in a you-tube video that telescopes from the center of your TT frame down to your stabilizer jacks pads and once set up you lock them in place and they act like cross-member supports to stabilize. If you are parking your TT somewhere for the season I could see you doing this but if you are going from campground to campground is it really worth it to completely get rid of all the movement??? I myself think that I am going to get a set of the x-chalks instead of the regular tire chalks that I use right now.

I use bottle jacks under the axels and its helps a lot. 1 on front of an axel and the other on rear of other axel. I have dual axels.

another problem you may all have is i have found that torsion axles have much more bouncy feeling to the camper versus spring mounted axles .
the spring mounted axles are much more stable than torsion units.
think about sitting on one of them rubber exercise balls and bounce up and down just a little and see how much bounce there is .

Our camper also "wobbles" a lot, we were thinking about buying one of those stabilizers like the jrstrongman to see if that will help. but hey, its a camper not a hotel

X chocks help greatly. I did notice that they don't help as much on my new TT though. I think it has to do with the electric stabilizers and the torsion axles on the new one.
