Can't figure out how to make cable work??

I am new to the RV world and we are on our second trip. The first trip we could not figure out how to get our cable to work. We have a new 2850 Sunseeker 2018 and I know it has something to do with a red light in the little cabinet above the door but we haven't figured out what to do yet. We have connected it outside. Can anyone help a newbie? There is nothing in the manual to help and the sales people skipped over it quickly since there was no cable available at the lot.
Thanks

The red light is for antenna. There should be a small button near the light you need to push when you want to watch TV off of antenna. To watch cable you plug in the cable outside to the cable outside on the pole and should be ready to watch. The light should be off when you're watching cable.

Like he said...
The light powers the antenna. Turn it off .
Then you have to go to the menu on your tv menu and scan for the channels.

Then, use TV menu to select between air/cable. After selecting cable you’ll have to select auto scan for channels. You have to re-scan every time you change campgrounds.

Here a pic The red light never seems to go off. It is on that plug in the pic. Underneath it I feel a tiny button that is green. When I click it the red light still stays on. Sorry, I am not mechanical at all. I am sure this is easy but obviously I am not doing something right. And I can't get the pic to show up either

So I clicked it on cable and scanned It said RF CH 135 but then it says no signal. My kids tell me these things only happen to me. Maybe someone at this campsite will be better and smarter than me at these things.......The red light is on the plug in. They only way it will go off is if I unplug it.

Where your cable comes out of the wall and hooks up to your tv there should be a small black button and a light in the faceplate. When the light is on the antenna is amplified. With the light off you should be able to get the cable to work. Your faceplate should look something like this:

Maybe this will help. We’re camping right now with no access to photo editing so please overlook the sloppy drawing.

This pix is with the select button in cable mode. Zoom in and you’ll see the button at the end of the arrow in the “out” position with the light slightly above and left not illuminated.

Compare it to this pix with the arrow pointing to the illuminated light and the button pushed to the “in” position. Ready for over the air reception.

Okay....first things first.
Have you ever gotten the TV to work by using the antennae?
You still need to get on the menu of the actual TV and select “air” or “antennae” versus cable, and then do a scan.

I've been to a couple of different campgrounds that I couldn't get any cable channels while the TV was set to 'Cable'...

But found that putting the TV in 'Antenna' mode while hooked to the park's cable and scanning the cable brought the cable channels in.

Worth a shot, anyway.

Respondents are not trying to get you to turn off the red light in the plug; they are trying to get you to turn off the light in the switch plate as you see in the pics above. If it's not in the switch plate you're looking at, look at other switch plates.

Is the cable connection between the faceplate and your TV attached securely. Also, make sure the source on your remote control is TV.

I agree. However, there may be a confusing factor in our attempts to help. My light is green. It appears others have lights of different colors. It appears the OP mistook a comment about a red antenna booster light and spent time trying to turn off the red power on light in the 12v plug of his/her TV. That won't work!
