Can't reach the vent

My trailer has a crank open roof vent in the kitchen. Its a 5th wheel so its pretty high up. I'm 6'4" and I still can't reach it. I've seen some poles online but they are over $20. Seems like there would be a homemade extension pole but I can't find anything online. Any ideas?

I bought the "quick stik" and extra knobs for our camper, but it can be easily made with a piece of 3/16" steel dowel. The tougher part is the handle for the vent, but one could probably modify it also. To me, it was just easier and cheaper, than spending the time to make my own. I also use the handle to install and remove the "vent pillows".

Quite a while ago I bought a rig from Camping World. It came with a rod with a hook on it and a knob to replace the knob on the vent. The new knob had a u shaped piece of metal and the hook on the rod fit into it and then you turned the knob to open and close the vent. Being that you are abnormal(over 5ft 8) you might be able to reach with this outfit but I'll be darned if I can find it on line at Camping World. Probably not using the right terminology. Good luck.

Sounds just like my wife calling me abnormal. She's just jealous though.

I thought about taking a pvc pipe and notching it somehow. I forgot that you have to buy new knobs as well. I have 2 other high vents and that would get expensive fast. Maybe a step stool would be cheaper.

Replacing the pillow and installing the crank is a bit of a pain. Of course operation is another. Got a step stool but even then it's a stretch.

The item you are looking for is called a "Vent Stik". You can get them for around $15 or so with 2 knobs. With 10' ceilings, it's a must.

I googled that name and they do not come up. Even entered it into Camping World search and no go. Thanks anyway.
