Clean awning underside

How do you keep the underside of your awning clean? Usually scrub mine once a year, it’s 3 years old now and getting harder to remove all the stains. I’ve used a variety of cleaners, they all work ok, there just always seems to to be a few tough streaks that I can’t remove. I was wondering if anyone has used scotch guard or something like rustoleum never wet? If these products work, the streaks should just hose off. Any ideas?
Thanks

Take 1/4 c of bleach and 1/4 c of dawn in a 1 gal sprayer. Thoroughly wet underside of awning. Roll it up and wait 15 min. Rollback out an rinse with pressure washer. Amazing!

This has worked great for my awning. Tip: Wear old clothes, a hat and a pair of glasses/goggles.

For those stubborn stains, I use the Magic-Eraser by Genie......

This is what I am afraid of, too. Hopefully, somebody will chime in with good news and not a horror story.

My opinion is it won't hurt the coloring on vinyl, maybe try in a small spot.

Thanks!

This is what I think, too, but I would really like to hear from somebody who has tried it.

I've been using Clorox Outdoor cleaner in a sprayer for 10 years, wet down both sides, roll it up and wait 10 minutes as previously suggested. Also the hat, goggles and old clothes are a very good idea.

The awning is 10 years old and some stains are just not coming off anymore.

Oh well...

Simple Green, small amount of bleach in bucket, “small amount of bleach” , it’s not the awning that the bleach hurts, it’s the thread used in seams that bleach will damage, scrub with same brush you wash the RV with, Then after clean and dry pick up some WET AND FORGET. It stops mold, mildew. You just mix it in a garden sprayer, 1 part Wet and Forget to 5 parts water. Spray it on and let it dry. Don’t rinse it off. Great stuff !

I use LA Awesome Cleaner ($1) from Dollar Tree. Spray it on, roll awning up for 10-30 minutes, unroll and either rinse with hose or mop with the Swiffer (stick mop). I hit any remaining stains with Clorox spray cleaner or bleach/Dawn/water (wear old clothes), repeat from the roll up process if needed. When underside is dry, roll up slowly, drying the top side with the Swiffer as you go, or leave out till top is dry.
Ours is white as snow on the underside and topside is the variegated gray tones it is supposed to be.
This process even removed stubborn pecan stains (silly squirrels)!

Great info, will the bleach or Awesome Cleaner hurt the wax on the trailer. My wife I think used straight awesome to clean the outside wall one time and left streak marks, I could be wrong but I thing that is the story she told me.

My experience is that Awesome will remove wax. It is a great cleaner just be careful around wax and I have seen it damage some painted surfaces. Test on your rig in a small spot first.

I use Camco or Thetford Awning Cleaner in a foam cannon and spray it on the underside of the awning. The foam will stick to the awning and loosen any soil. Agitate with a long-handled brush and rinse with a pressure washer (not too close to keep the pressure lower).
